I bit the bullet and bought a new monitor, Samsung 205BW. Super wide screen.
It seems pretty nice and it's on sale for $269.00 at CompUSA after the rebates. The manager tried to tell me he didn't have it in stock, but I knew they did because I checked online before I went in...
I ended up having a salesman check and sure enough, it was there. As he was checking I was able to read the screen, cost on the unit was almost $338.00, it retails for $349.00. I knew right then why the manager tried telling me it wasn't in stock, $11.00 profit reduces his margin and he doesn't make shit off of it.
There seems to be a little problem though, parts of the screen are darker than others (small parts). I'm gonna play with it and see if it works itself out.
I would recommend it overall. Great price, 1680X1050 res, 5ms response time, 700:1 contrast ratio. Not bad at all...
Peace.
I'll be damned, just played with the adjustments, tried the image reset and voila! Perfect picture.
This is sooooooooo sweet!
