Whats wrong with  Nationals? I made it to the  Judo Nationals my senior year, to fight for a spot on the US National Junior Judo  Team.  The olympic training center in Colorado Springs is sweet.

Not bad for a start but when I looked at the source man thats extremely shoddy.
Learn the basics of html and if you are going to take it seriously (for other, more advanced sites) I suggest you also start learning basic php.
Good luck

So many constructive feed backs *hooray*

Don't let them blow you pal, nice beginners site - as you go along and experiment more the site will become better and better. Check out some of the links given and improve it step by step, might want to look at using some frames and learn a tad of html - we all gotta start somewhere

not bad for the first try, a very 1996 look tho.

i guess getting some form of layout would help you the most. do something basic like two rows, one for links  and stuff and one for content as you see it in blogs. keeping this sorted is half the job.

i´d say "nay" to that, it might be easier but if you wanna stick to it learn how html works (as been suggested before), that way you really know what you do and can fix errors faster, plus you don´get that weird blown-up shit of source code wysiwyg-editors tend to create.

once you got html down, go on to CSS and you´re in the future already. keep at it.
and btw: no comic-font and its ugly siblings! it makes teh eyes bleed - at least mine.

I love how everybody is so friendly and helpful to ya. Role models for the BF2 community I must say.

Anyway, my advice is to make that top image/banner/decoration much smaller than what it is now. I'm on 1024x768 resolution (most users still have around this resolution, makes web design harder) and the top image before the content takes up about half my screen. You want most of your content to be visible right from the start without having to scroll or anything.

Otherwise it looks like a good start.

e107 is a community (open source) PHP Website management system. It allows you to make dynamic interactive websites with little to no php/html knowledge yet lets you keep expanding as you learn.

The guys in my paintball team have started to use this system and you can see examples at www.sonicpaintball.net or www.aussieclans.com

Both of these sites are very "young" and have not had a lot of work put into them as yet. They are both running standard themes available in the e107 package, this package allows you to make real time changes to your site on the fly without the need to take the site offline at anytime. it also has integrated page creators, forums, polls, chatboxes, personal messaging, BF2 plugins and just about anything else you can think of.

If you want to travel down the php content management system path feel free to email me at: [email protected] and i will help in any way I can. I have used CMS systems for a number of years and also been involved in the writing of a few custom CMS programs.

Any other information you could require is available at the 2 links i gave you. The community is very active and very welcoming to newcomers.

Good luck and keep up the good work.

Alright, learn HTML as far as you can.

Never learn with any form of GUI website builder. Guaranteed you will not progress.

Once you're decent with HTML, concentrate on server-side, things like PHP etc.

Only then can you make your designs in image-editting software, such as Macromedia FireWorks (I recommend it). Photoshop is mediocre for this, your site will be more like just a pretty picture and not an actual site.

Do not just splice the design into little blocks and stick them on the page, you will end up with slow loads and messy, hard to modify code. Cut out only what you need, so you don't end up with blank images just holding your site together. Always make your images to fit your code, not your code to fit your images.
