As for raptors in RAID 0, this is nearly SCSI performance for a much lower price.  Since I got mine, load times are extremely fast, I'm almost always in the top 3 or 4 in game.  Highly recommend this option.
I have a 60 gb IDIE hard drive and 2 GBs of ram with low latencies.  I'm almost always first

Seriously, are people that touchy about tech recommendations?  lol

I agree that as time marches on it will be more prevailant, but it just simply isn't there at the moment.  Yes, there are ways around it I realize.  But in addition to the fact that some games at present get pissy w/ widescreen, a 19" monitor is going to seem larger than a 19" widescreen monitor.

all IMHO, of course.
yeah.....they sure can be

I've been meaning to go back to my 19" CRT one day just for the hell of it and see what it feels like after a 24" WS.  Just cant be bothered to actually do it I guess....  It's all relative to what you are used to though, when I had the 19 it was perfect.  The 24 is also P E R F E C T.  It's just a matter of perspective I guess.

You could build the same system for half the price (Ussualy less then that) if you build it yourself.

If your not that handy, pick up the parts and have a local shop build it.  They ussualy charge 25-40 an hour and should anly take them 2 hours or so to build.  Then you just install the software.

Spend the extra money on your lady (Or mom).
leave the local shop out of the equation altogether, either do it yourself if your confident enough in your skills (baby steps, don't overdo it, just learn as you go), or let someone like alien or voodoo. if it bugs out on you the local shop will rape you but so long as you don't void your warranty you can just ship your alien back to miami

I was messing around on the Alienware website, and I built a comp for around $7000.00 US.  Now, money is not an issue, I can buy it and prolly will, but 2.5 tetrabytes?  WTF.  Is this just over kill?

So, I have to ask, if you could, would you buy one of these?
yeah .. im sure the majoprity will have some sort of redundant home nas. I think they add all this disk space for "shock and awe" ... and alienware is very overrpriced

Are you freaking kidding me?? I hope your not a real Marine!!

Just like buying a motorcycle..  Buy something you can tear up before you screw up something expensive.  You'll turn it into a $7,000 paper weight in no-time!!  Or you have to pawn it to pay your electricity bill.

Why don't you give me $3,500, I'll build you an awsome machine, then I'll kick you in the nuts..  and we'll call it good!!
