Colonization is one of the games that just doesn't get old. I'd say it kicks the civ-series anyday. Not to forget C&C: Tiberian Dawn, that is the first one. Got to love those little intro-movies for the missions. Oh, and Monkey Island. As for FPS, I'd say UT for the reliability. Never got one single connection problem during two years of playing it. Of course my computer crashed, Internet broke down, but never the servers.

agreed, storyline is everything,& for me the silent hill series would be my no1 choice, they have such a twisted & immersive deep story to em from the day i start to play one it's the only game i'll play until its completed.
if i had to choose 1 as my no1 though it'd be sh 3 followed by sh 2.

also enjoyed fatal frame 1&2's story on the ps2,my ps2 died though before i got chance to play the 3rd in the series, gutted lol.

hmmm think i might install sh3 laterz lol feel like playin it now ive thaught about it.

While I disagree that storyline isn't everything (to a certain degree, that is) it does remind me of the Resident Evil series which kicked ass.
This thread has been a good game recommendation page....

Baldur's Gate I & II were both good, and while I haven't played Neverwinter Nights and it's expansions, it is the same thing so it can't be bad.

LaidBackNinja, ever play Dues Ex (the original)? I dunno hey, comes pretty close to Half Life.
I never did play Deus Ex when it was new, but I kept hearing it was such a great game I eventually picked it up last year. By then it was so hopelessly outdated I simply could not play it for more than 30 minutes. I don't know exactly what it was about that game, but I just don't like it. Maybe I should have played it when it was new. It's utterly unimpressive to me now, for some reason.
Yeah, was good when it first came out. Takes a little while to kick off too... Once you get your augmentations (read superhero upgrades...) the game becomes the bomb.

Messing around endlessly with the super sprint/jump aug (once maxed out) was brilliant. Oh, no need for a bullet proof vest when you have a bullet proof chest. Played through on Hard, never had the guts to try the realistic setting all the way through.

Rygar... Baldur's Gate 2 is the only RPG I've ever really thought was good. Never Winter Nights single player sucked, online wasn't too bad (I have two brothers who are RPG nuts, tried to get me into WoW... WoW is boring after about 20 mins).

My favourite game of all time is Half-Life though.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

Grew up with them too. My Dad played RA, Tiberian Sun and RA2 to death. Sadly I thought like a soviet commander with a death wish while playing...

Have you played any of the console versions?  I have the PS2 copy and it was very very good, from storyline to gameplay.  The over-the-shoulder aiming was awkward at times, and that is my only complaint.

nah my ps2 died few months before it came out so not had the chance to play it yet.have you ever played COLD FEAR its set on a boat full of zombies in a storm,i did'nt like it much though, its on ps2 xbox & pc,ive got the pc version & that has a similar lookin over the shoulder view for shooting, that felt a bit awkward to get used to but the controls to that was pretty sloppy anyway due to a bad port from console.

how long did it take you to complete res4?,i'm hoping its gonna be a long game like codename veronica was & not short but with updated gfx like a lot of games are lately.

I have Cold Fear for the Xbox and it wasn't bad, but I got it while I was in the middle of something and only played it for a few hours before putting it in the 'come back to' pile (a big pile).
I think it took me ~3 weeks to finish RE4...I found the length pretty close to Veronica, actually.
I haven't played RE3 (have it for the PC though, it's in the pile) or Zero.
I have 1 for the Saturn

i played both versions on the console and i really think its better on the cube!(i know its hard to believe)
it just seems more atmospheric, also the graphics look just that little bit sharper and the way the buttons were mapped for the control was fantastic.

the length of the game depends on what mode stick it on hard and you will be there for quite a while with it easy and you will sail through it,

I'd definately have to see it to believe it.   I'd argue the graphics part, and I don't know the controller very well for the Gamecube.   Good point on the atmosphere aspect though, we'll have to see.
I beat it on Normal then lent it to my bro.  Since getting it back, I put it in the pile to do on hard.  I've played Outbreak as well, but it's so short it definately isn't worth paying much for.

That's the same guy who uses the gameshark his first attempt then complains when everyone else is still playing it long after he beat it?

been thinking of getting myself a cheap second hand x360 now you can get firmware to play copies, only thing putting me off i dont like the controler, same with xbox they just dont feel right, preffer ps2 style controllers, for pc jpad games i use a thrustmaster dualshock 3 cause it ps2 layout but with 2 extra triggers underneath,i use it to fly jets on bf2.
i hope capcom release loads more console to pc conversion from now on,onimusha 3 & devil may cry3 was good ports so res4 should be just as good,i hope.

if you know anyone who has a cube get a copy have a go if they have surround sound even better, there was no way i thought a game would look better on a cube but played on both versions and on the cube it just seems to have a little something that the ps2 version seems to be missing. not sure what that is, loading times are abit longer but thats understandable with the cube.

all in all great game!! now we just gotta wait for RES5

also stoned i have a 360 full version and i have played pretty much everygame on it in the UK anyway and i am abit let down by it dude, there is nothing new not fantastic graphics (i have hdtv too) i would seriously have a good long go with one b4 you spend that amount of money, the reason i am keeping mine is fable2, if that wasnt cuming out i would get rid of it straight away!!!!
