if its a caterpillar it is the biggest one i have ever seen x10 i live in iowa and i get my fair share of catipillars and bugs out here. regular catipillars are about 3/4 inch......or like 2 cm i think.....  that  thing is wayyyyy to big to be any kind of catipillar i know... but i must say it does resemble one. mabey a new kind of catipillar or just muntant..

yeah, it does appear to be mechanical.. and if he would care what is really was, he would have picked it up and examine it, taken more data, send it to X-Files or whatever... iam out.

why would you pick up a giant bug you dont know. it could be poisonous. a lot of catipillars look mechanical because of how they move and how slow they move, but to me it looks to real to be mechanical

really weird bug though..

A catelpillar of that size would much more "rippling" while it moves. An insects size is limited by its skeleton - if it were this big it would move very slowly

hmmm... it looks very similar to a florida Puss caterpillar, Megalopyge opercularis.  Which is indeed poisonous...
