Just because I'm from New Jersey and I love how stupid and expensive our state is.

Since they haven't figured out a budget for our state all of our government services are shut down. The governer of New Jersey wanted to raise the state tax from 6% to 7%, now tons o people are "jobless"(they have jobs but don't get paid and can't collect unemployment). My bosses car is impounded right now for registration and she can't get her registration to get it out of impound. This state is retarded.

Your thoughts?

You're not alone in your disgust for your state.

I'm from Washington, where votes get pulled out of asses and there's enough money to plant trees in the middle of the road, but nothing to maintain highways.

Here's what it is:

Each state government bureaucracy races to spend all the money they are granted each year, so that their budget isn't cut for the next. Talk to private contractors who work with them, and you'll enjoy many stories of state employees calling up saying "man, we really need to spend this cash soon. Are you sure it can't cost more?"

this is why business professionals should be running states, we elect too many lawyers, leave money management to people who know how to earn a living by making money, as opposed to people who make a living by taking money, send the lawyers to the senate, they're pretty useless

News says the State is losing $1 million a day every day the casinos are closed. 15,000 casino workers are out of work right now. All non-essential State services are closed. No DMV, no State Parks, no State Beaches (yeah like we care about the last two pfff), etc etc.

Hmm... Sales Tax? Bah, Income tax is more reliable and easier on the mind. Sales tax just leads to problems.

6% - 7% tax increase is a lot, but isn't as bad as NY which is 8% if I remember correctly (haven't been there in awhile). Then there is Cali which is just out of control.

property tax = soaking those that have enough initiative to get off their ass and earn enough to own some property

sales tax= everyone contributes to the tax base including illegal aliens, prostitutes, drug dealers, etc......
