Maybe the missile did work, but the US missile defense system also worked...

A ploy to rain in on the 4th of July perhaps?
yeah most likely I dont think its a coincidence that it happened on the fourth and about the same time the space shuttle was supposed to take off.
From an international politics point of view, the North Koreans have just shot their load - both practically and figuratively. They've been trading off the threat of what they could do, now they've just demonstrated that the threat is somewhat hollow. Their scope for bargaining with the rest of the world is diminished just like the local psycho kid who threatens to bring a knife into school and then turns up with a butter knife rather than a big hunting knife he's been bragging about owning.
I suspect officials in th US State Department are laughing their collective asses off.

The long range missile, touted as the USA attacker exploded 1mile from take off. Panic over............ NEXT!!
I suspect they're still wondering about whether they have nukes to throw at South Korea.
well they just launched a 7th missile that most likely killed some fish.
They dont have to wonder, they do have them. Also, those Missiles that went into the sea, Id bet were not fully fueled, thus making it possible that they could throw a few at Japan, a country with NO nukes. But before you see this happen, you will see China step up to the plate, maybe as soon as today.
theres a difference between a benefit and a relianceBubbalo wrote:
You're right, China wouldn't be anything without trade with the West (not just US). But now the US relies on China's cheap, cheap products.
theres plenty of 3rd world asian countries to take over chinas commerce to the us. vice versa really china doesnt have any absolute reliance on the united states.
I disagree: it would take time to set up sweatshops there, and in that time the US would suffer severe shortages of many products.
hardly we go to china becuase its cheaper. the only result would be slightly higher costs for those products.. not a shortage.
the united states has 2x more trade with canada. even mexico trades more than china with us

I think the test was more symbolic than anything. They are just flexing their muscle just to remind everyone they are there.parthian1000 wrote:

I say again: it would take time to relocate. During this time there would be a shortage.bad-card wrote:

So far as I can tell, the trade with Canada is in completely different areas. The products you get from China you seem to largely get from China (if you take my meaning).bad-card wrote:

I agree its symbolic but the fact that the missiles failed changes the symbolism; arguably to a meaning that the North Koreans didn't intend at all. Now they just look inept.I think the test was more symbolic than anything. They are just flexing their muscle just to remind everyone they are there.
See what happens when you try to overcompensate for a small penis??? The world still ends up laughing at you.parthian1000 wrote:

you underestimate companies desire to meet demand and you overestimate americas reliance on china. there is no chance whatsoever that comapnies couldnt keep up with demand.Bubbalo wrote:

Damn freakin koreans, US troops fought in the korean war and now they want to shoot missles at us. Man people are just smacktards.
Well I got in my trunk of my car: 5 packs of C4, A silenced 92FS pistol, My g36C with 120 rounds, and a remote detinator, and my zipline. Ill go there and blow up five of their ICBM's, then i hope someone who plays battlefield 2 picks me up in a RIB.
