You do of course realize that floaters are pieces of turd that adamantly refuse to go down the toilet?
If so you Really need to go see a doctor..

do you see the floaters all the time?  if you do then I would be a bit worried.  I have a floater in my left eye, and I don't worry about it at all.  Most of the time I don't even notice it.  But if you have had the left side of your head bashed in 5 times, then I say go see an optometrist.

Ok, went to the doc 2 weeks ago and she used a torch and a red light and asked me to look down and up, is it for her to see my retina? She said something about dilated and said my eyes looked okay but told me to go to eye spec if more floaters come in

Yeah I'm 21, but I had like... one that would show up when I was little, dunno how or why, but I did and it wasn't till I moved here in Arizona that they got 'worse' I guess.

Floaters are annoying, but try having both those AND flashers at the same time.  Rather than being bits of "floating" matter in your vision, they are actually bright points of light that flare up for about a millisecond and then disappear.  Due to the amount of eye treatment I've had, I have almost the whole array of long-lasting persistent eye problems.

After cataract surgery, I had to have YAG laser treatment to remove a layer of skin off of the new intraocular lens.  I had horrible floaters in my vision for months afterwards while waiting for it all to get absorbed...you just have to get used to it.

Anytime you take serious blows to the head and your vision is affected or shows after effects, you should have your eyes checked.  You've got the privilege of 1 set of eyes.  No replacements there...

It's mostly precautionary, but more importantly, preventative.  It's good to hear that the Doc you saw did internals (the torch-look-around-thing) as this checks the health of the retina and nearby tissue and blood vessels.  Floaters are usually harmless and go away or are forgotten/adjusted to, but better safe than sorry.  The eyes are great for 1st sign indicators of something else wrong in the body.

I guess I should qualify myself here.  My other job title is "Optical Lab Manager".  I  currently work for a therapeutic Optometrist and Glaucoma specialist.  I'm Certified Optician by the ABOM and have been helping patients for 6 /12 years now.  I'm hitting the books again this Fall to pursue Optometry and hope to enroll at the U of Houston / Baylor school of Optometry.

My hats off to Specialist and Marconius, as they both have shown knowledge and history in the ocular dept.

But, there are quite a few medics here yeah? Anyway, my floaters are nothing blocking my vision except that they seem to be irritating me *sigh* by flying around. They are transparent most of teh time.
