After watching every game in this current world cup, I have lost faith in both F.I.F.A and the referees which they give the honor of governing our team’s matches.
F.I.F.A is so concerned in promoting “Anti Racism” and “fair play” they are failing to see the negative effects which are being caused by various players who feel the need to cheat and dive at even the slightest touch.
Being an England fan I am not upset for us losing, but in the manner in which we lost. I feel that Argentine referee Horacio Elizondo made some unforgivable decisions which ultimately cost England and will cost Portugal in the latter stages of their world cup campaign, after having most of their players banned for the semi final.
His biggest error in my eyes was red carding Wayne Rooney, Simply put Rooney was Red carded for doing the exact opposite of the Portuguese players by staying on his feet. If for instance Ronaldo had been in Rooney’s position he would have gone down like a sack of shit, and this fact of the game disgusts me.
Perhaps it is time for F.I.F.A to get their priorities right and to stamp down on the cheats who feel it is necessary to dive and harass the incompetent referees.
