God, I hate it, support our "troops"

A troop is a group of something like a group of soldiers.

Thats like saying, "Support our batallions" Its just SUPER gay.

I think it should be "Support our Soldiers" They are individual people. The army has its motto "An army of one" here, so why don't we stress that?

I'm always hearing "Troop pullout" Technically that means that they are taking out a group of them. And when stupid John Kerry was saying "Bring out troops home" It BUGS THE HELL out of me.

just come on. It doesnt make any sense when thinking about it.

Its just as bad as that Carls Junior commercial that they repeat over and over during sports games and lost. You have to hear it. And after w while its annoying. A trop consists of 3-4 platoons (16 people) so it doesn't make any sense at all

yeah i really dont care how i spell on a forum as long as people understand it, i have a A+ in English thanks though.

Words are not given to us from some alien source you know. People take them from other languages, make them up, change other words and give them meanings. If the words catch on they're implemented into the language.

Words like web for example, took on new meaning. If somebody said "I like to browse the web." 20 some years ago, they wouldn't have made the least bit of sense. I duno man... i think you're getting frustrated over nothing. You can't stop the language from changing and developing. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to say something like:

If ya wanta get technical about it, cavalry has troops. You're thinking too much into it though. To top it off, your subject should say "they're" not "there."

Uh......no. A platoon consists of severals squads, and I think a squad consists of several fireteams. And troop is not a collective noun for soldiers.
