Okay, everyone always hears of the gripes that you Britons have over people always only ever using the "Montague" accent (I think that was it)--could you give us some examples of the other types so that we know how to better mock you?
Another Bnrit insulting topic, close??
Scouse accent, geordie accent, brummy accent, south east accent and the "ghetto" london accent.
All make me want to cut their vocal chords out.
But yeah I'd rather be british than american.
I'd rather be stereotyped for having a posh accent than being obese.

Cornish
Devon
Dorset
Somerset
all have very different accents aswell
Manc (Manchester) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozdp-Bku … eter%20kay
Well, Peter kay is actually from Bolton but the accent's the same.......
Liverpudlian (Liverpool) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ff0EmLXz … 0o%27grady
The host, Paul O'Grady is from Liverpool. When Lisa Kurow went on the show she couldn't understand him and he had to talk slower, lol
Brummie (Birmingham) - I presume you already know what Ozzy Osbourne sounds like?
Geordie (Newcastle) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqiwAA5n … arch=gazza
Gazza, one of England's greatest footballers and heavily Geordie!
Taffy (Welsh) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2ClKWu2 … in%20chain
Not the guys at the start but the ones they interview in HMV. They are a Welsh hip-hop group, funny as hell
Cockney (East London) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtUeENcy … 20mitchell
From Eastenders
"Ghetto" London - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEnL-GXm … 20soverign
The most abhorrent accent of them all. Ok they're "rapping" but they do talk like that IRL...
Hope that helps, it certanily helped me waste 30mins at work looking them up. Who cares? It's Friday!!!!!

lol good research there EstebanRay
You could do right finding an "only fools and horses", "last of the summer wine" and maybe check out the "UK office" for some more reference.
Its always a terrible British accent bad guy in a Hollywood movie that makes me laugh the most.
And i assume that the producers think it sounds spot on.
But do you lot think everyone else's attempt at an American accent is terrible too, and we just cant tell?
I think everyone does it though, who knows what the Spanish think of Faulty Towers.
"heee no rat, hee Hamster"

BTW, to the US readers, how do you rate Hugh Laurie's accent in House?
House accent. Very good question.
And if as an American you cant stand it, thats how it is for the Brits. (it sounds fine to me though)
[..UK.EU.EARTH. #Quiet Chuckle# Bet there are lots of that, but its the first one i have seen.]

good point.
OK, so its our own fault. They want a Brit, and one goes and does it.
But you got to admit, they do ham it up in most parts. "tally ho, what"

Independance day - "Oh I say it's the Americans theyv'e come up with a plan"
House accent = nasal.
I am somewhat pleased to find that no one seems to consider Scotland part of Britain. Anyway, in case Xietsu is not the kind of American who says Britain when he means England and vice versa...
Glaswegian ("Herr oan a cherr is rerr, so it is 'n'at but, ken?")
Edinburgh (See Welsh, Irvine) (Well, that's Leith, but close enough...)
Dundee ("Pees 'n' Pehs") (don't ask)
Aberdeen (sometimes also referred to as Doric) (again, don't ask)
The four basic flavours of Scottish accent. Factor in class, religion, context, whether the speaker knows Gaelic, and prefers Scots or SSE, and you've pretty much covered all the bases. Unless you also want to get into which regions historically absorbed significant Norman influence, or ongoing trade with the low countries...
