I have now come to the conclusion that bikes are more confusing then computers.
Story.
The fork on my bike starts squeaking after a couple months of XC. I'm thinking...wtf? That's not right... EXCUSE TO UPGRADE YAY!
So I order up a Marzocchi Z1 FR 3. Good reviews, decent price, damn good upgrade. Only $275....
Today, it comes. I open it up and see: Oh shit. It's a 20 mm Thru-Axle and not the QR hub I thought it was going to fit. Great move on my part, dumbass...
So, I start calling around local bike shops to find a 20mm hub that isn't in a wheel set (that would cost $700). So after 4 shops, I finally find a place with one in stock. It's 12 miles into the heart of Seattle, through the hours of traffic. Fuck.
So, I'm going to have to buy another hub, go to two bike stores (one for the hub, another to relace the hub and install the fork (I have not the tools nor the knowledge to do it myself)). Can't do it tonight, it'll take 3 hours not including the time the service shop will take.
Service shop closes in 2 and a half.
[/Story]
Another crappy day for the books. So now I've got to spend $80 for the hub and another $85 for the service making it $440 for a fork that I can't even eat food with
Ah well. good thing it's going to be badass when it's actually all said and done.
