Edit: Discuss his motivation for the trip (I know very little of George W. and would appreciate well-thought out comments)

Edit2: Just to bring up another point ... what do you think of the article, in terms of accuracy or political bias etc. (just curious)

True, so true.

Me= for.

As for the explination:
We just nailed a top terrorist leader. That is a morale booster is it not? Lets kick it up a notch. Fly the President in, have him meet with local officials, and re-affirm our dedication to rid the world of Terrorism. It was a brilliant plan in my eyes, and I believe the shock of him actually being in the former capital is a fantastic boost in morale and hope for US troops abroad.
Maybe you disagree with me, feel free to.

Thats my explination Viper, hope it was enough information for you.

The Iraqi Prime Minster had 10min's notice that a foreign president was in his country before he met him. I think that says it all about the puppet government which has been installed. Its a good moral boost to the troops. He hasn't been out there in 3 years, same as katrina..........better late than never I guess.

I can't comment on how I truly feel or the NSA will take me away. Some freedom of speech.

Condaleeza Rice once said that a safe nation is one where you can go out to town square and say what you want and not have to be fearful of what might happen to you...she was referring to some former Soviet state (Georgia I think) but it applies here as well. God bless the Patriot Act.

Buck up the troops and people involved for a job well done. Boost his approval.  There was a lot of cheering. They must have liked what he had to say.

Either for him or against him? such is War if you admit it or not.

Excuse me while I go clear some brush.

But first...  watch this drive.

Keep up the good work.  You're doing a heckuva job.

To be on topic:

Bush went to Baghdad to show support for the new Prime Minister.  It had two target audiences:  1)  International to show we care about Iraq and its new government.  2) American populace... to show he can go to Iraq.  It was a neat PR stunt.... nobody knew it was going to happen.

In my opinion, politically, Bush needs these small victories.  His approval rating is low enough that he can't hit a home run on domestic legislation but can do some of the more basic things correctly.  I'm not a Bush fan but won't bash him too much on his visit to Iraq.  But I would note that with the 10 minutes notice to the Iraqi prime minister, it shows they are NOT in control of their own country (imagine some foreign leader springing a surprise like that on Bush w/ 10 min notice).  Also noted is that Bush was there for 5 or 6 hours, helicoptered to the green zone and never left that zone until he went back to the airport.

As for the cheering... he had a selected audience.  'nuff said.

All in all... I still give him a semi-thumbs up on the trip itself.  What I'd like to see next is more honesty from his administration and a swift kick in the ass to the incompetent boobs that continually make poor decisions and give bad advice.  He promised accountability.  I'm still waiting.

Are you implying that the new president of Iraq would give out information to the insurgents?
Look I do understand that if it leaked out, every insurgent in the country would have a pop shot at his black hawk on the way into the green zone. My point was however, that I feel the current Iraqi President is toothless and has no power whatsoever, as Ive said before, Iraqi is under the wing of the US Federal government.

A good thing indeed. The only person that needs help is Bush himself. I apologize if you can't handle someone else's opinion...

I think people take things a bit to serious these days...

Saying it's ok to assassinate my president is never a funny joke. Seriously leave the debate and serious talk forum now if you cannot realize what you are saying is wrong.

P.S. I don't give a shit whether you negative me or not. My karma is only a reflection of the intelligence of the BF2S community as a whole. But next time, give a more logical reason that "grow up seriously". child please...

Don't think anyone said it was "ok" to assassinate him... but anyway screw assassination, kangaroo court followed by Texas style execution would be more appropriate for Bush.  They do still execute the mentally retarded in Texas, right?

As a patriotic American I can only hope that our actions in the Middle East turn out for the best for everyone involved. As for Bush, he has done a horrible job selling our plans to America and the world. Could someone else have done a better job? Who knows? However, IMO, it would be un-American to just blindly support Bush or any president for that matter. As far as Bush's visit to Iraq, total campaign maneuver for the upcoming elections.
