I put money, but resources and general greed all fall under the same catagory.

Any real knowledge of history will show you that Religion was how it was presented to the masses to drive them on and inspire them to fight and sacrifice.
Resources are more of an issue only in the last 50 years, previously Land was the Resource.
Example: israel, its about ....................................... Land

While I understand why religion is the lead, I think the thing you forget is most of the time, religion dictates a portion, but my best example of why land (and hence resource...they really ARE the same thing) is my choice is that there wasn't a tension with the Jews particularly, in fact they were welcome and living in many Arab countries until Isreal was created after WWII. The Koran specifically states that you are to treat the Jews as brethren. The tension in the Middle East is about land, not religion.
If you look at most wars, they were largely conducted as land grabs. For example, Japan initiated their involvement in WWII in order to obtain resources that were scarce or non-existent on their islands.

Once people start killing to get revenge you have the vicious circle we see today. It doesn't matter if you get the land or not as long as you get revenge for the people they killed..
When both sides think like that you can't stop the killing...

historically it's been religion, but in modern times it has been resources, bout only in the last few hundred years, as opposed to thousands of years of religious wars
If we are talkin' in the past then I'd say religion but today it's probably moslty for money..

I voted Hunger because Hitler started WW2. He was hungry for power and a pure race for his new empire he named "The Third Reich." So now he invades Poland because he wants the land Germany lost in WW1.

Yeah...lol...if you'd noticed...most of the wars in the Middle East have been about resources and power (one nation's control over a certain strategic section, one nation's control over such parts of such land mass, one nation's control over such people, etc).
hm i guess with further development of our society, religious conflicts will decrease since people will realize that such differences don't matter...
ok, not everybody will do, for sure, but with resources like oil getting rare, people will have more important problems than religion, that's why i think future wars (maybe in 30 - 50 years) will be about energy (oil, coal) and water (maybe not in europe & usa, but in africa)
