Right on the money - religion is the motivator, not the reason..Kirokura wrote:
No, I don't really think that religion is the real cause for most wars, but mostly an excuse and a great motivator. "Go out and die so that I can get rich/powerful/whatever" probably doesn't work, but "God commands you, and those who die will go straight to Heaven/Paradise/Valhalla" sadly do.Widjerd wrote:
religion if you're talking about the past. I say because a prime example are the crusades by the christians trying to take jerusalem i think. Also, religion is usually the cause of arguments between races of people and may catalyse a war about something else like land.
Maybe stupidity should be on the list. Wasn't WW1 pretty much started because none of the leaders had any clue what they were doing?
Edit: Added the supidity thing

It may have been that way a long time ago, but the shame about the Israel/Palestine conflict is that in present day people kill eachother because they killed someone you knew, or family..[1stSSF]=Nuka= wrote:
While I understand why religion is the lead, I think the thing you forget is most of the time, religion dictates a portion, but my best example of why land (and hence resource...they really ARE the same thing) is my choice is that there wasn't a tension with the Jews particularly, in fact they were welcome and living in many Arab countries until Isreal was created after WWII. The Koran specifically states that you are to treat the Jews as brethren. The tension in the Middle East is about land, not religion.
If you look at most wars, they were largely conducted as land grabs. For example, Japan initiated their involvement in WWII in order to obtain resources that were scarce or non-existent on their islands.
Everyone says that sooner or later. Once they just look at the facts.Flecco wrote:
Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to the dark side.... The dark side causes all wars....
For possibly the first time, I agree with Horseman 77....
