A better (or, at least, a more fun) way to not stand by and do nothing is to go take a course in debate and make sure that subject is brought up. People online, for the most part, are unwilling to change their minds based on the opinions and/or evidence posed by one or many. Liberals and conservatives alike have been ineffectively spinning their wheels in this topic for quite some time.
