noob; he could have sold the smaller one or the speaker could have pointed at just 1 chainsaw
-1 for calling somebody stupid without thinking
Dickhead  - it's still wrong.

"Brothers" was meant to be plural - he tried to use an example in the singular sense (first example), and the plural sense, second sentance.  Whether it was one brother, or more, the sentance was still incorrect.

Dickhead.  Go back to middle school.
I hate to point this out....but it is sentence.
This is a good post...

Lots of people can learn something from this thread.

you dont need to follow what he says. It's just for information for those who don't know to use them but would like (or don't mind) to use the correctly. Give him a break.

Take a little pride people, I don't have an English degree, but still take a little pride in the fact that I am literate. If I were to start posting in a language other than English, I would make damn sure I was doing it correctly OR I would be taking instruction from others until I could.
well, I was going to post my 2c about all this, but it's all already been said. ^^

Is there really any reason to call him a "dickhead" over something as trivial as grammar? He realised the mistake and apologised a few posts down. There's no need to get coarse.

On a side-note, this karma system is completely incompatible with a lot of the people on this forum. I don't know how much negative karma I've gotten from this thread simply because people rush to conclusions and fail to read the entire thread.

If you people have the time to write novels in your negative karma explanation, the least you can do is sign it so that the recipient may point out to you exactly why you're horribly wrong.
