Your Geography textbook lists the gay capitals of the world?  What is it in Vatican city?

BM:  Yes, yes there is.

Melbournians unite!  I don't know how much karma I have left, but I fight fire with fire!  Announce youself, that you may be karma'ed!  Do your national duty!  Everyone hates Sydney!  Even Sydneysiders!  Totally!

You know, there's a rumour that Sydneysiders are actually New Zealanders who were deemed to.........New Zealand-like on the farm.  Still, at least they only have one head.  Bloody Tasmanians.

Yea... we have:

The Rocks
Harbour Bridge
Opera House
Lady Macquaries Park (that what it's called?)
The Zoo
Centre Point

Not to mention 95% of all international tourists go through Sydney when coming to Australia.

Mcminty.
We have:

National War Memorial
BOTH Parliament houses - the new one looks OK
Nat Museum - interesting architecture (I thought they had built a roller coaster at first)
Carillion
Shit, I forgot the rest!
Oh, and more wildlife than you can poke a stick at (for a major city, anyway)

Though we have nothing big sporting wise - I put that down to a lack of funds.

Speaking of New Zealand, I heard there was a clause in the Constitution (I think New Zealand's) that allows NZ to join Australia as a state whenever it wants!

canberra is the capital becuase they needed an inland capital to stop attack from navy ships.

the fight between syd and melb is an urban myth they cooked up to feel important.

melb is good if you like greeks and cloudy weather.
syd is good if you like traffic jams, lebs and smog.

I thought New Zealand was a state of Australia

Canberra freaks me out.  Looks like a city, feels like a country town.  Appropriate for our capital I guess, but it does take some getting used to.  When you get to a pedestrian crossing, people actually stop

Real aboriginals... Still actually hunt for food and stuff, nice people too... Friendlier than most if they aren't drunk or high....
The real Kakadu......

Yeah, but is that worth the increased chance of seeing a 50 year old with a pot belly in a g-string?

From someone in the same climate as you I'd say Melbourne. Was only in Oz for a few weeks and either in Brisbane or Melbourne, but the weather was much more to my liking down the south, I even got to wear one of the many pointless jumpers I carried half way round the world! Brisbane's hot, roasting, even hotter, humid, sunny......did I mention hot? Personally got a bit too much for me just depends how well you can take the heat.

My brother's moving there in a few months and according to him there's IT/development jobs in abundance and it's easier to get some kind of permission to stay and work if you're in that field.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.  I know of 3 people in the IT field who have had trouble finding jobs.  There's been a flooding of the market in recent years.

We speak the same language? Last I checked, we spoke Australian, not Scottish..

Oh, and climate wise, move to Adelaide. Probably the closest you'll get to what you're use to. We do get hot in summer (anywhere from 30C up to ~ 45C) but we dont freeze in winter. Round my area, we average around 8 - 10C overnight, and my suburb is slightly lower then the city itself.
