I don't think Iran is stupid enough to launch an overt nuclear strike. My fear is that Iran will secretly develop a nuke. Some insider will take one and give it to an anti-israeli group and have them push the button. Iran has been developing nuclear programs in secret for years, the question is how far are they and how secure are they.

If Israel is attacked by Iran, Israel can and will fight for themselves. I dont think they rely on our help to do something that drastic. They use our jets and other military equipment, and are backed by us, so if they are attacked, i think they probably know we will help them. But i agree with you they have one, since the US backed them up, which may involve giving nukes. The number of countries that have nuclear enrichment CAPABILITES (repeat: not nuclear TECHNOLOGY or WEAPONS) is staggering. It is almost every single high-population or OECD country, with a few militaristic countries for good measure.

IF Iran manages to develop a nuclear weapon they know that using it on Israel will bring mutually assured destruction to both countries. That's why nuclear weapons generally just act as DETERRENTS and have only ever been used in conflict TWICE!
