First, I tried searching and didn't find any relevant articles!

I have two separate Bf2 accounts set up with the same name but different case... I can't remember why:
* lexington1971 (which is an old account I don't use)
* Lexington1971 (which is my real account)

I downloaded EA, registering under the Lexington account. However, when I run BF2 and sign in it doesn't offer any EF maps.

If I run BF2 and sign in as lexington1971 (the old account), it does show me EF maps.

If I try to change account names in EA downloader, I log in as Lexington1971, but it shows my account as "lexington1971".

I think that the asshats at BF2 have made some of their code case-sensitive, and some insensitive. So I can't change account to Lex because it thinks Lex and lex are the same.... but when I get to the game, Lex and lex are different, and only lex can get to EF.

Anyone else have similar problems?

BTW am afraid to delete my lex account since (a) I might delete the wrong one and lose all my points and (b) EA might have registered my $10 payment against lex and make me pay again to play as Lex.

Yes, it was stupid to have two accounts with such similar names, but hey, if they let you do it they should make the code work!

Anyone else had similar probs?

Thanks,

Lex (and lex)

well I only have one account but I downloaded ef & can't see the servers, I have to wait till my bud joins & then he gives me the ip.

Someone suggested starting the game thru the EA downloader which I did but it still does not display the maps, atleast I can join by IP but christ EA/dice get some real programers or give them lots more time I'm getting tired of all these problems & bugs, reminding me of SOE days *shrug*.

Did you change your gamespy name also? Theres 2 logins u gotta configure in ea downloader, your ea login, which was used to buy the booster pack, and your gamespy nickname/id (not to be confused with the gamespy ID that you use to login on there website, lovely isnt it?). So if you logged into the ea downloader correctly, it should show play EF now, under the button theres a link that says edit gamespy nickname, go here, and change the nickname to you bf2 name (they call it a gamespy nickname, dont use an email addy or anything like that).

It sounds like you might just have configured your EA account name to be same as yer bf2, not the gamespy/bf2 one needed to authorize the booster pack.

The problem is that it won't let me change my nickname on this screen -- when I change to the Lex account it seems to keep it as the lex account

Update: I tried playing under my lex login, and it actually seems to have connected it to my Lexington account! Wahay! So I still have two separate logins, Lex and lex, but both are now connected to my proper account and score. They have different in-game settings (resolution etc), but it's easy enough to fix that. The Lex login still can't see EF maps, but I can play with the right account. Phew!
