I was thinking about trying it out as well. Maybe just see if the guys like it, if they do, maybe we could do weekly thing or summit. I dont think its a good idea at all to get rid of the vehicles in the normal cycle tho.
well, we will have to see how the infantry only concept plays out on every map. My guess is there will be some maps that are better suited for inf only than others. What I'd like to know is if they left the transport vehicles ( jeeps and boats ) in there. If not, Dalian Plant will be a pain in the ass in inf only....

I reckon games will be slower and longer in inf only, mainly because ticket drain won't be so bad without the tanks, APC's and jets.

Infantry Only doesn't work on all maps. There are some predetermined maps like Sharqi, Mashtuur, Karkand & Jalalabad (all sizes), Gulf Of Oman (16 player), Great Wall (all sizes) & all SF maps.

The only vehicles that are left in infantry only are boats (on Carrier maps), nothing else.

so you are saying inf only won't be possible on Dalian Plant ? That's a good thing, because it would have taken the poor chinese guys ages to get from their base to th south docks without transport, while the USMC could have easily used their boats.

You can play InfOnly on Dalian or Taraba Quary, it just doesn't make sense.

True but i hate the whole thing..on some servers its OFF and on some server ON.
You can imagine how it is u drive with a Jeep and i see your own teams Mines on the ground u dont know what will happen...
1.someone placed them there to kill tanks
2.If u remove em to drive trugh it wont kill any enemy armor

And it happend to me a few times...like im used to drivre over our Mines...i was driving a Jeep with 2 other passangers and we died...what happend ?
They were arguing on me...etc
And not all servers show if FF is on or off

Write it into the Welcome message and/or the Auto-Messages.

You guys are mixing up two things here...

First we have the "EA friendly fire". Remember patch 1.whatever ? They started a new setting where friendly mines and claymores would not kill you any more. This still applies for our server.

Second there is the "server-set friendly fire", means you don´t get harmed by anything, as long as it comes from your team (including bullets, C4, bombs, etc...) We have the setting "on" (friendly fire does harm) on our server.

The latter. If it should be made the starting map, how it should be added in the cycle (added or replacing) etc. Or maybe not at all. It's not a player problem, they'll just write Jalalabad in the server browser and take the first best server. We want it to be BF2S that comes up occasionally in that list of servers.

Not to mention that you guys want the play the map right?

I havent played it either but i saw some screeshots and they looked pretty cool. From what i ve read jalalabad should provide some good close quarters combat, a bit like karkand.

A citymap including jets would be cool (yeah, I have a dream ) Map looks cool, but as usuall EA/Dice use the same buildings (ok here they use the SF buildings)... I wonder how hard it is to build up new buildings/trees and stuff (well modders could do it pretty easy, ever seen NAW?!)

I think we´ll add this map into the cycle if its uploaded. Maybe this evening, if the patch 1.4 is released and the server is patched.

For trying I will put it as starting map (just to test it and see how it works to fill up the server)

Same here...i just saw some pix.As I see the pix it looks nice.
Its a good thing that we get 1 new map and you dont ahve to pay for it.
I have no idea how it is to make a new map but i belive that its not easy it needs a lot of testing.
But as I see there are a lot of ppl who make pretty nice maps and mods.I really think that EA or DICE should try to work with the community.As all of us we want more new stuff to our fav game.From day to day i can hear or read more and more good ideas for maps.Like that PLA needs a city map.
So Ea plz collect the ideas and ask us to help you !!!

yeah , blatently the beta was a safety net for people so because EA realised the screwed on 1.3.. they didn't want to release 1.4 because as they knew there were going to be hidden bugs in there like 1.3.. they had a backup saying "uhh.. its still beta." So noone got angry.

yes, I'd like to remove Oman from the mapcycle, but instead of simply doing it, I want to hear your opinions first. But whenever that map comes up, I get a feeling that we spend more time chasing rule breakers than actually playing. and that can't be right.
