When I try to install the patch (v1.41) nothing happens, as in the "Install Shield" app won't even run. I can still play the game, though the patch won't work.

I opened up task manager>processes and when I clicked on the patch, it just goes away.

Do I have to install any previous patches or expansions or whatnot before it?

IIRC, this is the current patch order:

BF2 -> SF -> 1.41 -> 1.50
--You can skip SF if you don't have.
--For some people a patch is required before SF can be installed. Just use 1.41.
--The 1.50 patch also contains EF and AF, so don't bother installing them separately.
