Could've gone to private school, parents didn't send me. Not bothered.
Well said.Jenspm wrote:

So my image of private school twatishness (education: excellent, awareness of what's going on outside their little bubble: shocking) is probably distorted.
But surely you meet more interesting people at a state school. Ie, people whose parents aren't just like yours.
Maybe I've been brainwashed though - my parents sent me to state school in the US on principle (they could've afforded private). I had a good time.
Your thoughts, insights, and musings on this matter intrigue me
point: being wealthy is by no means a prerequisite for raising a good child, nor is your income a reliable gauge of how decent your kid is going to be. As long as you have enough to feed it and dress it and time to give it attention, and you're not a moron, then I'm pretty sure you're k.
I've met excellent people raised by single mums in their 20s, and a shit load of absolute disasters with rich banker-parents. But hey, at least they can get that job at Daddy's firm and live comfortably and complacently until their inevitable death.
for a fatty you're a serious intellectual lightweight.
congratulations and good luck!

Could have gone to a private school, chose to go to public one instead.
Congrats.
Regarding your Lambo, yeah, we had a similar experience, albeit "cheaper" sports car. We at least had miniscule rear seats, but with enough room for the car seat. Got too hard though after the first year. Much harder to take a sleeping toddler in and out of the rear carseats of a coupe sports car. We ended up adding a minivan as the family car. As our first child, wife ended up not working for the first few years, then part time, then eventually full time some many years later.

Can't speak for Europe regarding Jamie, but for the love of your child, Stateside, do not call him Jamie if a boy. He will be forever scarred with all the mockery. Yeah, I was one of those who picked on boys named Jamie. Stick with James.
That's a pretty nice life story and all bro, but my point is that people were high-fiving each other over how hard they could piss on Irish's bonfire, when he was a hard-working guy with two shitty jobs -van delivery and working in the soil on a farm - just to pay for his kid. Then you all want to congratulate TS, who by all accounts has had his entire life planned out for him before 21, and is pretty much dependent as a leech on his parents/wife's inherited money. I just don't see any standards here for "congrats! and good luck!". Why was Irish's unplanned pregnancy contemptible but TS's is a great choice? Graphic designers in the north do not get paid enough to have a Lambo, a family home, and a newborn baby. I'm sorry, but someone is picking up the bills somewhere. So we should all be clapping him on the back for his thread advertising spilt sperm? No thanks.Jenspm wrote:

Maybe if you went to a private school you would understand one of the civic qualities it instills in its students: ambition. Something TS seems to singularly lack. Married with a kid before he's barely an adult, driving one of his mum's castoff motors and thinking he's basically a made-man living the high life (just check some of his posts, rofl), when he has earnt nothing. Some life.
And in response to Ilo's post below, considering this was the gist of people's argument earlier:

While I was not part of the Irish bashing, TS has some awesome shit safety net, regardless of how he got it. Inheritance on both sides, hell, I wouldn't turn any of that down.
And we all disliked Irish. Let's no over-look that.
At least a few of BF2s like TS. Sometimes.

as for the car problem it'll go closer the time. probably better to just get rid sooner rather than waiting a year or less down the line, it wouldn't get much use when the little one arrives there's some fun cars out there with more than two seats... hopefully

If the women don't find ya handsome. They should at least find ya handy.
If you can keep the Lambo, just keep it. Once the baby is around, you'll need a few away times here and there. You, wife, Lambo, "hot date". Just get a practical car as the family vehicle.
As far as Uzique and his issue about his own silver spoon, shit, take and appreciate what you can get. Really, what's this reverse chip on your back about trying so hard to prove your own self worth just because you had a significant advantage in upbringing. To hell with that. My parents provided for us. We never had to work while going to school. All Schooling was paid for. They even gave us money for our first house. I don't even give allowance to my kids because grandpa/ma gives them enough. I turned out well, and am highly ambitious. I'm sure my kids will turn out the same way, especially with my guidance. And BS with this "go out on your own and make something of yourself". I'm going to give as much advantage for my kids as I can. If they screw it up, I'll still be their as a safety net.
Seriously, you have a good starting job. Plus inheritance. Shit, congrats on all fronts. If you screw it up in the future, well, that's all on you.
