Pictures uploaded to the Internet by bystanders show family members carrying young children with bandages on their heads. The local reports state that four seriously wounded children were transferred to other hospitals for intensive care.

Here's a novel question: why do we think that arming civilians who have hunting or shooting range experience will prevent mass-shootings?
A teacher with a gun is not going to have the training to engage in a shootout with another armed person. And if they are, will they have enough training to do it in a crowd of people?
If they do have the chance to shoot them before they are threatened, they're not going to be trained in non-lethal action. I don't think it's unreasonable to argue that we should try not kill everyone who threatens us. Proportionality in force would seem a good policy to me.
Anyways, I'm not here to write reasoned responses. I come here so I don't have to do that.

EDIT- also, it should be noted that in my joke about why people listen to Coulter (which is thinly veiled and hardly a joke), the intent was to draw attention to the fact that maybe we shouldn't be considering what people look like to determine why their opinions matter. It's pretty clear that Coulter has a following similar to Palin's. It's a bad thing.

However, a person could be a Delta operator, and still not be legal to carry in a school. The current solution is pretty much one-size fits all (except LEOs).
The Republican solution : Send all teachers to Afghanistan.
