Job interview went well. The lady interviewing me (would be directly reporting to her) was a fucking bulldog at the start but I won her over with my experience and charm.
Maybe she noticed the bump on your head and decided to go soft because she thought you were retarded.
My contract has been ended, a bit foolish as my work is incomplete - waiting for others to do their bit - and they haven't bothered to ask how incomplete.
All in all a weird situation, I resigned in a huff, my replacement couldn't do half the work I did and was so lazy only did about half the work he could do.
So to replace me they had to hire two people one of whom was me. A colleague who was also critical resigned a while back, now five people are doing his job so he beat me there.
The manager who I worked with for years brought me back in and retired and was replaced by two people - together they did less useful work than him - my new direct manager was a big baby who wouldn't say boo to a goose and gave me literally not a word of direction in 12 months, nor could he do anything to remove the roadblocks preventing me doing my work - so not proactive or reactive and couldn't manage up, down or sideways, ie wholly useless as a manager.
I did cause a bit of trouble for both of them but got a pat on the back from the CEO for doing it so fuck them.
All in all its been a blast, paid more than I've ever been paid, total autonomy, four day week, plenty of WFH, got some neat work through the workshop, for the last three months I did literally nothing but whatever I felt like and very little actual work, there being little point in adding logs to a logjam.
Pretty sure they're going to need me back again when they realise what needs to be done and they have no idea how to do it, two critical defence builds are coming up which I know they'll fail to do. For one thing they've thrown out some of the equipment they need which is going to make it hard.
I'm going to put my hourly rate up at least 20% if they want me medium term, or 50% if its day by day.
Meanwhile there's a job much closer to home which is as perfect a fit as could be, building lots of fun stuff including sniper rifles for the Army.
I almost don't care what the pay is. No guarantee I'll get it but I'm due for a break so if I don't get it I won't care.
