MAV/SOFLAM/Arty bug

I now have this weird and frustrating bug when trying to use the above gadgets.

I select the gadget, press LMB to use it, but nothing happens. With the SOFLAM and MAV my character merely drops it on the ground, with the arty I can't place it at all.

So basically I can't fly the MAV, manually control the SOFLAM or even place the arty.

I've googled but I can't find anything. What do?

you mean mortar?

check you're not being resupplied in between placing it and trying to use it. if you have equipment out, then resupply then try and use your existing equipment, you can't. your dumb internet soldier just places a new one.

LMB is for placing, E for using

It's always been LMB though, and people on the server say it's LMB.

My controls have not been changed.

I'm going to try E and report back in a couple minutes.

you could always try the super helpful EA live support

not sure if its possible, but try rebinding it to something else, then back again. i've never heard of a bug like that

Changing the bindings didn't work either. I might just reinstall all of my OS like I've been thinking about doing anyway.

Well it turns out I can control remotely, which is kinda cool. I just have to drop it and then control it... I'm presuming this will work for the mav, but I won't be able to do this with the mortar as it won't even deploy.

you used to be able to control the soflam directly but it been removed with one of the patches. Anyway it better to go find a hidey hole and control it remotely, the big ass red light it emits kinda gives you away.

i have found mortar doesn't work on some circumstances im sure there are restrictions around its deployment but i dont use it enough to care about them.

there will prob be a guide by that some guy in the soflam vid if you want to find out, he seems to have found all the quirks of bf3.

So with the MAV and SOFLAM they no longer are controlled the moment you deploy?

Maybe it's not a bug after all then

deploy the mav/soflam

go hide somewhere safe

press 3 to pull out gadget and then press LMB to control them.

Soflam is semi-autonomous and will auto designate targets for you so you can run around with the jav

Mav will just sit on the floor and function as a localised motion detector if its not being controlled

Yeah. Just in the past I've always placed them and controlled them simultaneously. I did not know that I could use them again so when I needed to use it I would just pick it up and drop it down again.

Mortars cannot be placed inside a spawn/protected area. Make sure you're in a spot both your team and the enemy team can reach when deploying the mortar.

If your controls are acting up, just reset all options, and slowly add your custom binds back one at a time to figure out the problem.
