lmao yeah lets have a face-off over a supposed encounter we had in a game 4-5 years ago where neither of us have any proof of said encounter. this is going to go really well.
maybe just stop making dumb comments about tribes when you admittedly haven't played much of the game at all? oh i dunno... that seems like the modest and usual thing that people would do when learning a new game. you're the one stepping into here with some pr0 swagger and down-talking the game and its history just because you're no good at it. which suggests a lot more ego than my own comments. and fyi tribes did have a pretty massive competitive scene... not sure how you missed it? i didn't take part in it but i knew about it in the early tfc days. it was before my time, personally, but i'm not sure where you're getting it from that quake and cs were the only two games being played at LAN? you're my age, right? not sure how you're such an authority on these matters. smacks of pr0 swagger and ego, again.
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
yeah i did. i have no problems with the controls, they're quite intuitive. it's just the technique of jetpack and ski to get maximum speed and timing the jetpack so you don't run out of power at an inopportune moment, leaving you on the ground and more or less dead that i need to get the hang of.firebolt5 wrote:
Did you play the tutorial first? You can try changing your key binds with the jetpack/ski controls if you're not comfortable with the defaults.Spark wrote:
tried it. had a lot of fun, killed some people. hopeless at the jetpack/skiing mechanic though, spent half my time trying to work out how to get from a to b with any sense of urgency.

Thumper is uber noob style as it is in every game (well, it has it's non-nooby uses, but it's in the secondary weapon slot for a reason)coke wrote:

Typed in CsOKE, game lagged accidentally clicked accept, can you change your name?
Game is pretty good takes use used to aiming, but been getting better, especially with the soldiers grenade launcher thing.
Any basic tips I should know?
Pathfinder is not a combat class, it's for flag capping/chasing other pathfinders
Don't try to take on the HoF (Heavy on Flag) or just heavies in general unless you're at least a medium class (Raider, Soldier etc)
I'd recommend Raider or Infiltrator for a first class purchase, they're pretty fun.
Setting up a better defence and letting other people do the flag capping is a good way to get a feel for movement. Try out a roaming soldier, stick around the flag, but when someone comes near your base go chase them down, then return to the flag. That way you're never outnumbered and can usually get good uptime. No point in running into the enemy base and dying as soon as you get there - that'll teach you nothing.
Do the practice offline Skiing to find some paths to take to cap flags.
When you're about to die, press F.
nerf thumper
It's a good finishing weapon and isn't too overpowered.. but when someone's running around using it and nothing else.. makes me rage.
the engies thumper is too fucking good though, one shots light classes

I'm talking about the engi thumper of course
nerf it into the ground
it's so insanely easy to use

the engi thumper is pretty bitchin' if you play pathy exclusively

i played like 2 hours and it was pretty fun, i mean i attempted to catch the flag runner like 10 times and just couldn't go fast enough but then i bought that vehicle and started running people over and that was enjoyable.
i also bought the most expensive vehicle that was like 4500 but it crashed and blew me up within like 2 seconds of moving forward so i didn't really get that but i'm sure in 5 hours i'll look back and facepalm at the obvious noob thing i did.

this isn't bf2/bf3. you can't vehicle whore 24/7. the vehicles aren't as powerful.
i'm afraid you're going to have to actually l2p and ski/aim properly in this one. not as simple as jumping in the flying vehicle all the time.

i'd say about 75% of the time but the inf combat was so lackluster i needn't explain myself
well in this game inf combat is the main thing and vehicles are lackluster so you're gonna have to change your playstyle

Can people set up private servers yet? I noticed that it's implemented in game, but I didn't bother testing it out. All this arguing in this thread screams for a 1 vs 1 match, no chain guns, only spinfusors
