Sony or beyerdynamic circumaural monitors plus a thin Radio-Shacky mic-only headset that wraps around the back of your head, or a good desk mic if position isn't an issue.

You don't need a great mic for gaming, and getting it separately expands your choices for headphones drastically. The two devices should be barely touching each other, if at all.

Tried those Creative Fatality's once. Didn't suit my head that well.

Thanks, but I have a pair of great headphones already which I use at lan parties and on random occasions at home. I want a headset. I still don't want to use headphones and a separate mic.

basically, ultra, in my opinion, you're wasting your time. the reasons you've given for having a desktop mic/seperate headphones don't exist.

The guy who's wife you hear showering has his set up wrongly. It doesn't take an idiot to set up voice activation properly. Are you an idiot, Ultra? If so, just use push to talk like me, bind it to a mouse side button. Getting a headset with a mic on it is a drastic reduction in value compared to a €5 mic and proper headset. Trust me. Get them separately.
