He may suck but he played the game better than most. He knows everyone will buy his CD's if he makes a name for himself and get's publicity as any sort of person rather than just make his lyrics and beats well. Eminem did the same thing. None of his songs are that good but they're damn catchy so the radio plays them and people buy his CD's.
Get some publicity by doing weird shit and getting into the public eye (smoking weed, homophobia, feuds with other people/musicians, drunk driving, etc.) and the media will take over and launch your career. (btw. Wayne and Em didn't do all those things but other famous-people-for-no-reason did, i.e. Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, etc.)

Anyway, Carter III was okay but I only liked a few songs. I'll be curious.
Lil wayne is a hot rapper not a good rapper, he makes alot of mediocre shit and sells alot of records but that doesn't mean hes a good artist. I've heard worse than wayne but wayne is mediocre.

no kanye has talent, he just sucks at rapping. His wordplay is good, and I actually like maybe 2 or 3 of his songs, plus his production is pretty solid. Just can't stand most of what he raps about and never really a big fan of the braggadacio rapper.

it's marketing. whether it's big publicity stunts or taking over mtv for a day or playing the super bowl. THese people have huge media marketing machines behind them. There's money to be made.
