Got the two mixed up, thought the Lightweight was for Army. Still, they have different helmets.

But the uniforms are so VERY obviously USMC uniforms...yet you keyed on the helmets, totally ignoring the glaring, neon sign that says, "USMC".

It doesn't matter. You look at rank first, then you look at the persons left sleeve. If they have a unit patch, they are Army. Then you look at their right arm, and if it is blank, you make fun of them mercilessly.

Marines do not wear unit insignia on their sleeve, nor do the Air Force or Navy.

I was just going off the fact that the uniforms were tan. And only the Marines have tan uniforms (even the new Army Afghan AO uniforms are greenish). Of course we could go into the "arts and crafts" differences, but why?

But I wasn't besmirching those that have them. I was referring to all the stuff that goes on the uniform is sort of irrelevant when it is the uniform itself that is the primary determinant of who we're looking at...

Obviously the army has a different philosophical opinion when it comes to that. I assume they still wear paratrooper, pathfinder and air assault wings along with Ranger and SF tabs. Then there are the different colored berets... Nothing wrong with variety.

But anyway, when I was in, everyone except the Marines wore the same BDU pattern so it was impossible to differentiate branches if people had their back to you or were wearing a vest. I would check rank and insignia, and react based on that.
