yeah, im more interested in the daenerys and above the wall stories than the main war going on
That final scene was hawt.
Tyrion's story gets better. So does Jon Snow's and Arya's. They'll be the prime drivers going forward and Daenyarus is going to be a sideshow, almost afterthought, for a while.eleven bravo wrote:

I think the shit that jon snow is what makes this series/book/fantasy world the only thing different than any other cookie cutter fantasy story. if it wasnt for jon snow it will be the tudors or that stupid ass show camelot.

Well, yeah, it's where the originality/magic stuff occurs. The series is basically three loosely joined storylines that converge over time.eleven bravo wrote:

The books haven't gotten this far yet, but what I expect to happen is that all the civil war and strife in the south will just be used to point out the futility of politics when there are bigger issues at stake. The fact that the people living in the seven kingdoms had to build a giant thousand foot wall of ice in order to keep out bad shit from the north in the past, should've been a history lesson that hey, maybe it's kind of important and we shouldn't just send our orphans and rapists and murderers to defend it. Pure speculation, but what I see happening is winter does indeed come, the white walkers overwhelm the night's watch, and the seven kingdoms are overwhelmed. Dany then comes in riding her dragons and saves everybody from extinction. But we'll see. Next book comes out July 12th. Maybe Jon Snow ends up as her husband or something, who knows.
One of my favorite characters is Beric Dondarrion and he won't get his story told until the third season.
I will tell you this though. Don't get attached to any characters. Many more will be joining the cast over the next few seasons and many characters will be killed off.

Well, if you read the books you'll know that a lot of them visit a local whorehouse and that the policy changes...eleven bravo wrote:

Bastards got me spending money.
Friend of mine finished the series in about two weeks. When those books arrive you will then ask 'how the fuck did he finish these in two weeks?' Yeah, that good.

Hey could you just answer something for me about the show?
Spoiler (highlight to read):
After Drogo killed the guy by ripping out his tongue did he let the witch inspect his wound and if so the witch poisoned him right? She did it because she was bitter about getting attacked by the tribe? I just want to make sure I understood everything correctly since I didn't see the whole part of that.

Dany wanted the witch to heal him and instead she made him a poultice that caused his wound to become infected so he would die. It was the witches way of getting revenge.

I definitely hope to finish them all by the time I get to school on August 18th. Working on a big ass book on foreign policy that Kerry recommended right now.Jay wrote:

Daaayyyuuummm...
Started reading the books. Got about 100 pages in for the first one last night. Honestly, it makes me like the show even more. It's so incredibly detailed. I always give credit to authors of fantasy/sci fi series who can truly create another universe and still allow people to become immersed into it. GRRM really is in a league of his own.
If anybody here hasn't read the books, do it. The first one is flying by for me. I should be done with it by next Tuesday or so, if not sooner.
