Not every game has to be the best competitive FPS in the world, they can just be fun to play for a while and then moved on from. Maybe I am more tolerant and have more fun because I dont approach games from a "professional gamer" (lol@ that) point of view? Who knows. I also had plenty of fun playing BC2, and Vietnam and play them both still occasionally. der derp I like bad games I suppose.

I am not trying to convince anyone, just saying what I think.

(btw BF3 and any other FPS that comes out will never be like BF2 or anything before it)

Only saw a few minutes though until the guy went to lunch with the words: "Been playing for an hour and it didn´t give me any XP. I´m done with this game."

Doesnt sound like it happened to him, but there is a bug with the steam cloud saving that it can erase all your progress. Less Brink's fault than steam cloud's I would think, but who knows.

I havent even been able to play yet, it comes out in Europe/Australia on the 13th. Hopefully there might be a patch by then (or already) that fixes some of the more major issues.

It seemed to have been an issue on that particular server/game. I don´t think he meant quitting the game altogether. It still made me laugh though.

Interesting how different the two versions seem to be. PC version has its own problems with certain hardware (basically the whole ATI HD4000 line somehow? How did they miss that) and some settings on by default that arent optimised and halve the framerate (HBAO) but otherwise seems much better than the console one.

Oh yeh, and singleplayer is locked to 30 fps for some bizarre reason. Retarded.

So this game is poorly optimised and runs pretty badly but the basic gameplay is fun, I dont regret the purchase. The 'laser guns' are secondary to the gameplay because it isnt about beating someone 1v1 it is about playing as a team and buffing/healing whatever. Grenades knockback and do small damage (which is awesome, this game and Shattered Horizon are two games where I think grenades are done well).

I guess I cant really recommend it to anyone because it a) might just not work and b) it will run poorly if it does. When it is fixed and probably discounted to get more people playing it seems like a good buy unless you hate all games that arent CoD1/2, Tf2 or CS:S.

Takes a while to download it though, but its cheaper than steam. (it also includes manual and everything)

This is the English version (it says its UK only on the BRINK page, so im not sure about the rest of europe), but theres also an American (just use .com)

Brink is region restricted on most digital sites, so only UK people can get it from .co.uk. It is steamworks though, so you can download it through steam rather than D2D by just adding the key to steam.
