I saw this bumper sticker today:

And found it very ambiguous.
"Ah, you miserable creatures! You who think that you are so great! You who judge humanity to be so small! You who wish to reform everything! Why don't you reform yourselves? That task would be sufficient enough."

Not familiar with that logo. Can you tell me what it means?

I knew about the apollo stuff.. and tbh, I have no desire to hear a man screaming as he faces imminent death. Interesting article though. Did you know that when the challenger broke up the astronauts were most likely alive until they hit the water? They probably passed out quickly due to the altitude, but at least one of them was conscious for a few seconds after. They know this by the equipment they activated after the breakup.

Oh dang that's harsh. I never thought they would have survived the break-up. Were the bodies recovered?

A Joliet, Illinois man has admitted to slitting the throat of his brother's cat in an act of drunken revenge.

Sean Mulcahy pleaded guilty to a felony charge of animal cruelty on Wednesday in Will County court as a result of the August 5 incident. According to prosecutors, Mulcahy was driven into a rage when he discovered that his brother Ryan was having an affair with his fiancee, the Chicago Tribune reports.

After cutting the animal's throat, Mulcahy apparently texted his brother a picture of the butchered animal, with a message reading, "this is what you did to me."
...
Burmila sentenced to him to 30 months of probation and 150 hours of community service. As part of his probation, he will be prohibited from owning pets, will not be allowed to drink alcohol, and will undergo continued psychological treatment, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
No, they are not people. Animals don't kill for sport, or boredom, or some badly twisted sense of vengeance. An innocent animal was murdered, the unrepentant killer deserved prison time. Killing a human being is the next rung on this sicko's ladder, and the joke that took the place of punishment did nothing to deter him on his path to murder.
So 30 months probation and 150 hours of community service is what a cat's life is worth? I don't think so! Where is the justice for the cat? This man should be behind bars!
No prison time AGAIN??? For animal cruelty? AGAIN? He should have served years in prison. Our judges obviously have no respect for animals. This is getting out of hand when the lawmakers make life easy for psychopaths. The poor cat did nothing to deserve this. Let's hope that he meets Cerberus when his time comes.
Drunk or sober when he killed that animal he should have received jail time.
I don't know why I bother reading comments on HP when I already know what's going to be in them.

I never understood why people cared so much about animals. I'm not attempting to condone crazy folks who kill them for the sake of pleasure though.

A Massachusetts mom is accused of killing her 3-year-old daughter by stuffing roses down her throat in an exorcism to remove the demons inside the girl, according to court documents.
tldr: Dora Alicia Tejada Pleitez, 26 was arrested on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, for killing her daughter Nicole, 3 years old. Pleitez allegedly performed an exorcism ritual that left Nicole dead. Pleitez said she had stuffed rose petals down Nicole’s throat because she believed Nicole had her dead sister’s ghost in her.

How did I know what the name would sound like?! That's the same as my correct guess for the guy who cut his wife's head off.

He sounded more pissed off than frightened, from what I could hear...but who knows? From the history of the matter, he probably wasn't too surprised.

I think the biggest issue for the courts is that killing animals out of sheer cruelty is a stepping stone towards killing humans with the same goals in mind.

And enjoy the crap out of it. They'll trade kills with other cat buddies, stash them in your Christmas tree and sometimes make dead animal pyramids on neighbor porches. Since the usually-encountered domesticated cat doesn't know what to do with anything it's killed, it's become in essence sport, even if it is a part of their instincts. What's remarkable is that they can turn around and soften someone's heart with a cute stare or a somersault an instant later.

to answer your question, feos...i noticed a few mods online way after that thread was posted.  so, either get out off ee chats or just stay in your corner tbh.  dunno why they leave it up to you to do dst.  so sad these mods just stick to certain sections.

It's called division of labor. Each of us has certain areas we frequent, so we are left to focus on those areas. Some mods are all over the place. So just because a mod is online, it doesn't mean that what you view as an infraction in some obscure area of the forum will get caught immediately by that mod...unless it's an area they frequent. Or you report it.

And I'm infrequently in ee chats. When I've got extra time (which is rare), I'll pop in there to see what' going on. I've got D&ST because that's where I spend most of my time while here.

But again: if you have a problem with a post, report it, regardless of the section. If a mod's online and has the time to deal with it (ie, they don't have to go offline), they will. Of course, "dealing with it" may mean doing nothing. Which always makes you happy, I know.

As the Republican presidential nomination process begins, one GOP candidate is making a name for himself as the Islamophobia candidate: Herman Cain.

Earlier this week, Cain gave an interview to Christianity Today in which he declared that, “based upon the little knowledge that I have of the Muslim religion, you know, they have an objective to convert all infidels or kill them.”

ThinkProgress caught up with the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza today at the Conservative Principles Conference in Des Moines, Iowa, to discuss his comments further. We asked him, in light of his statements on Islam, would he be comfortable appointing any Muslims in his administration. Rather than skirting the question or hedging his answer, as most presidential aspirants are wont to do, Cain was definitive: “No, I would not”:

The Tea Party candidate for the 2012 presidential election. At this rate Obama is going to have an easy reelection.

If you have issues with posts in ee chats...report the posts. Pretty simple.
