Name some popular bands whose lead singers can peel paint off the wall with their voices.

AC/DC

Guns and Roses

Rush

Soundgarden
----

Good bands, terrible lead singer voices.

Brian Johnson's voice goes well with the style of AC/DC, I think it's what makes them special tbh. Infact, they are a great at their genre, on all levels.

Never liked Guns & Roses, too noisy, and I agree that Rose definitely contributed to that.
Agree on the rest. Will post mine once i get the time

Not every voice has to be that good, many singers are terrible but contribute to an awsm sound ... Axl Rose is one of them definately, so is Brian Johnson ... Chester Bennington from Linkin Park is another allthough he actually can sing if he wants too, with Dead by Sunrise he showed that other side more clearly ...

The majority of the singers so far are actually really good. It's just people's subjectivity that makes them not like the character of their voice.

Not bad...just annoying, and just one song I can think of:

"Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter" by Herman's Hermits

Again, not a bad voice, just...something about it and this song always makes me slam the mute button on the stereo.

also:

Nobody's mentioned ONO yet?!

Even a Japanese cover band can do better.

Always liked the song though.

Anthony Kiedis. Say what you want about the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, great band, sure sure. Kiedis still has a shitty voice for a frontman.

I seriously hope you're just reaffirming your previous suggestion and not insinuating that Bob Dylan was the singer in The Boomtown Rats.

Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins. But I guess that was their style and some of the appeal.

I still like SP, but you can't deny that Corgan's voice is a bit whiny.

good god, this.

Bob Dylan may be a good songwriter, but..  HE. CANNOT. SING.

Compare the following renditions of Knocking on Heaven's Door, the first as sung by Bob Dylan himself (a talented songwriter, but a horrible singer).

This isn't just "peel the paint off the walls" bad singing - this is "crack the goddamn building foundation" class bad.
This is weapons grade bad

Bruce Willis.. the action movie actor..can carry a tune better than Bob Dylan

Now listen to it, as sung by Eric Clapton (a real singer, songwriter, and guitarist)

Then we've got Billy Corgan, of the Smashing Pumpkins, who sounds alternatively like either a tone deaf flamboyant gay trying to imitate Johnny Cash, or like he's being sodomized by a cheese grater whilst singing.
