I'd definitely rather a sollie/demo on my team in any situation over a spy, and the modern spy (DR/CND/infinite cloak) is so easy to get cheap kills with anyone can be good at it. At least soldier/demo requires a bit of clue.

DLC is only bad when you have to pay for it. Getting content, be it good or not, for free is something you can't complain about.

the fact is we're getting 3 new weapons for each and every class... AGAIN. it's like the class-update patches in quick-succession.
that makes 27 new weapons to contend with, balance, refine and implement to keep the 'balance'.

Why are you complaining? Surely your 'elite competitive' scene is only really applyable at 'elite competitive' level, and I'm sure at that level everything but stock weapons are disabled, right? The public scene is just that - public, low skill, made for the general public so Valve can get as many sales as possible. The Elite level is made for the select few who wish to play the game like that, and so it is modded to be that way.. Can't have the best of both worlds. Can't play against low level players without having their low level unlocks in there too.

it also affects the whole community negatively cause the pub-scene spend forever toying with these weapons and never keep the 'real' tf2 community alive in any sense, i.e. never participate in lobbies or properly-arranged matches between (casual) teams. im not even talking low-med skill here. the recent etf2l highlander competition, helped directly by valve, is an example of a proper effort to keep the tf2 community alive and growing. releasing gimmick weapons keep low-skill players forever locked in a cycle of messing around with lame shit. in all other fps games, even the lowest-skill parts of the community normally organize into teams/groups/clans/communities and match one another. in tf2 it becomes like a 32-man instant-respawn deathmatch server with 200 comic comedy weapons to play with. then the med-high community stagnates, inbreeds and dies out. for what, you have to ask? 10 minutes of fun with a new weapon that severely affects game-balance. gre-eat.
all this coming from a person that plays modern warfare 2 really doesn't surprise me.
