Ok, so I'm tired of playing this game on a team full of immature idiots (or noobs), and losing the true value of the game (which is fun). Soooo I'm thinking of renting a server. Since DICE does not allow for building or hosting of your own Dedicated server I must rent one from an authorized host. My Questions:

1. Who and where are the authorized hosts.

- I searched the web for just a bit, and couldn't seem to come up with to much of anything. Just blogs and articles on server rentals instead of server creation.

2. How much do they cost?

- I have heard 2.50$ a slot so I would probably just get a 10-14 man server. I'm looking at spending about 25-35$ a month.

I have never owned or operated my own dedicated server, but basically I'm old and mature enough to do it now. So I'm very interested. Could be for any of the [bf2s] guys, and we could have a lot of fun with this. Let me know what you guys think/find. Thanks a lot!!

Protip: Nobody plays 16 slot servers. It'll be empty all the time. Go for at least 20 or 24.

Wrong. I usually play on a 12-16 man server. Usually full.

Jaded, at this point, any size is easy to populate. On launch my clan started with a 16 man, which was constantly full, bumped up to a 32, constantly full too.

That being said, get the biggest you can afford, though the FPS boost of playing on a smaller server is nice. I find 24 players to be optimal.

Before you start, make sure you undertstand how admin tools work for BC2.

If hosting a US server, use Chicago. Best ping for the most people.

Well I plan on naming this one: Chicago US [bf2s] Server.

But 1. Its in the US; 2. Its only 16 man. I personally don't like full 32 man servers.

You probably wouldn't want to play on it because your in the UK. UK should get a server and we can have a: US [bf2s] vs. UK [Bf2s]

i find that UK servers give me a ping of ~100, usually under, around the 90s. NY servers give a good ping, maybe 40-60, but i think a UK server would be the best compromise for both euros and americans alike. seeing as you're from FL though, i'm sure a NY server would do

What about us west coasters?
Although I guess I'm a bit biased since the only Euros I've played with were from UK. None of this Denmark/Finland/Germany/France/etc. shite

What would US/UK all be happy with? Where is the best place to put this server for everyone? Its staying in the US no matter what, so whats it gonna be? Chicago or Atlanta or New York? One of those 3.
