I bought BFBC 2 on STEAM about 3 hours ago and I have a few questions.

First, it says that the file is only 5.6 GB, I thought this game was 10-15GB ?

Second, it is only d/ling at 150 - 300 KBps and my connection speed is 1200 KBps, is that the fault of STEAM or something I am doing ?

thank you/karma for any replies

I'll usually have good Steam d/l speeds, but then again, it's also mostly updates I'm doing..

actually, i seem to remember AA3 was slow as shit for me, so it could be Steam servers...

Just steam, unless your downloading a bunch of stuff anyways. I also have it on steam and have been playing it plenty and thats the same size.

try restarting steam and thus restarting the game-download

steam servers were fast as hell for me even on launch day... there's no reason for them to be slow

I am not on my main computer but i believe the files are 5gb or so... but you need 10-13gb of drive space available.

Recommended Frostbite PC Specifications for BFBC2 & BF1943
Processor: Quadcore
Main memory: 2GB
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 260/ ATI Radeon 4870
Graphics memory: 512MB
OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7
Free HDD space: 15GB for Digital Version, 10GB for Disc Version (BFBC2)
10GB for Digital Version (BF1943)

Which is weird because you don't need the disc to play the game and it doesn't read anything off it while playing. Hmm, guess it's temporary setup files and the like.

steam unpacks and extracts the files after downloading. 5->15gb.

The game is indeed only 5.6GB.
Those 15GB required HDD space are for the retail disk version, which needs a lot of extra space for decompressing the files during installation.
Afterwards, the retail version also uses less space.

Yes, that could be Steam's fault.
Probably there are a lot of people downloading in your region.

There is a location option in the Steam settings somewhere, that let's you set the download location.
Try using a region where you expect less people to live, or a region that is a few timezones away from you, so people are more likely to be asleep.
