The plan:

What I'm planning on doing is turning this bedside table into a Media PC/Server.

https://static.bf2s.com/files/user/33829/_IGP4307.JPG

The list:

Monitor - My Dell 17" 1280x1024.
Case - The table itself. Plexi glass on the front and back, with cut outs for DVD drive, I/O, PSU etc.
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L from my current rig.
CPU - E5200, in my current rig, perhaps underclocked to keep temps down to allow passive cooling.
Heatsync - Freezer7Pro from my current rig, with the fan disabled.
Graphics - nVidia 8400 with the fan disabled if possible, from spare parts bin.
RAM - 4GB DDR2 Crucial Ballistix from current rig.
HDDs - 250GB SATA, 200GB IDE, 2x80GB IDE from current rig.
PSU - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/185183
Keyboard/Mouse - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158316
Speakers - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/118487 (Could use some input on this actually)

Budget: As far under £100 as I can get.
Timescale: Depends on when I get parts for my new PC. No more than 3 months hopefully.

Awesome or awesome? I'll keep this thread updated with pics of progress.

I see two problems with your plan, one is the fact you seem to be wearing a skirt in that photo, the other is you photographed said photo and posted it on here

More to the point of the topic were you planning on just screwing the windows to the wood or are you going to cut a groove around the inside for the window to fit into?

I GWALS'd.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I've already posted it before, and I donno, probably just screw it over the whole thing.

Freezer what can you recommend from your extensive arguing with .Sup to use as speakers? Very cheap, 2.0 is all I need really.

For £15, it doesn't really matter what you choose. All you'll get is plastic anyhow. Those Logitechs are probably about as good as it gets in that segment.

It's only for watching Mythbusters in bed. I don't need anything else, as what I have just now: 5:4, crap speakers

But it's on my desk, not on my bedside table.

It seems that he has deliberately placed things on and around the bedside table in order to mislead us from the truth. That he has cleaned the area of  used tissue.

On topic: Sounds like a cool project. It'll be interesting to see how you pull it off.

I dont see how modding a computer into a table is more useful than modding it into a small form case and just sitting it in there.

But sure, go for it.

Would probably be the better idea. Then you can always get a different able if you ever want/need to.
