Kicking ass with the AMX 38:
I never was able to do that with the AMX 38, too damn slow to have been able to reach enemy.
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
Just had a round in the AMX 38, the gun is dogshit in terms of penetration and not brill on damage but the armour on thing is hilarious 60mm front and 40mm on the sides and rear! For it's tier that's huge (it has better side and rear armour than PZIV). Anyway fired like 50 rounds killed 4 tanks 2 at the end solo to win the round and took 50 hits!
I was right near our base most of the time and they just kept rushing and my teammates kept dying until it was just me and the other guy over near the spawn on that side of the map
My biggest threat was the Panzer IIIAs and the Tetrarchs and by the end all that was left was the guy in the T-26 with 6%

Lights in tiers 2-4 in the light/medium tank tree for some odd reason act like fucking heavies while the tanks in teirs 2-4 in the heavy tank tree act like mediums, really is weird.

Yeah the AMX38 has 20mm more frontal armour than the equivalent on the heavy tree which is a medium, and the same armour side/rear.War Man wrote:

They probably did it on purpose to make them like heavy mediums or light heavies
Either way, I love the bounciness on these tanks. Here's another round before that with the Hotchkiss:
It was me against a D1 by the end and I had him at 2% and right as I was screenshotting it while taking that last shot, THE FUCKING GAME CRASHED and then the computer took its sweet time to unload all that memory and try to start WoT back up and by then I had already died because apparently his turret conveniently deflected that last one and then my useless teammate also died in his D1 and we had lost the fucking round by the time I got back into the game, I've never been so pissed with this game ever.
Anywho, I know how to make use of these tanks very well apparently. I just decided today after seeing how awesome that little AMX 12t is that I wanted to try to maybe get one so I sold my old PzIIIA and bought a Hotchkiss and worked my way up and I'm now about halfway to the AMX 40 XP-wise on my AMX 38 with all the hardware on it already maxed out.

I just used about a 1000 of 4000 odd free xp I had to get through the first 2, not gonna use any more on 'em though, just grind through. Already fully pimped the AMX 38.
AMX 40 or the Turtle is a major improvement over the AMX 38, downside is that because it is a Tier IV light tank, it gets put up in higher tier matches than the b1 because it is a "scout" despite the fact that it almost never reaches max speed unless you find a very fucking long hill to go down to. Idiot devs fail at making their matchmaking work as well as game balance.

Yeah, I had about 2250 free XP saved and then I decided to use 200 of that for the last little bit of experience I needed on the Hotchkiss to unlock the AMX 38 and then another 600 for the treads and engine on the 38 because I just couldn't stand how unbelievably slow it was to begin with and I didn't really feel like grinding for an hour just to be able to move even somewhat reasonably. Turns out I'd made a good investment because the first two pics were from the first round after that
I researched the engine on the AMX 38 but never bought it, 10 extra horsepower isn't worth my credits.
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
Well, if you're past it already, I definitely wouldn't bother. But the price is negligible for any speed improvement you could put on that tank at all let alone in general. Spending free XP on it or having to earn XP for it would've been the hardest partWar Man wrote:

Acceleration really isn't boosted with the upgraded engine, considering it is heavier than the stock engine so the improvement is so damn minor that even just a minor boost isn't worth it with the tank. That's how I analyze it.

I definitely noticed an improvement over the old one when I put one in mine, it's still not amazingly fast by any means but every little bit helps on a tank that slow
Damn you B1 !!!!
Here's a place where you can see where the modules and crew are in each tank so you know best what to equip it with and where to watch out for taking hits:

Hm, it's not working for me and I'm using Firefox. It just says the model is loading and it will take a minute, but nothing happens. I just ended up downloading the models.coke wrote:

Speaking of that site, you guys know about hitbox skins for tanks in the game? They've existed for a while now, but the skins mark a tank's weakspots using colors. The developers don't consider them as cheats, but some players think they are. One current version of the hitbox skins look nice though since the tanks don't have the rainbow colors anymore.
You guys ever use hitbox skins? I actually used them like 3 or 4 versions ago to see what all the buzz about them were. I think they helped for somewhat.
Even if they were considered cheats, they'd have to disallow skinning entirely to stop it from happening. And it makes perfect sense too even though you're a cheap fuck if you actually use them. It's probably very nice just to familiarize yourself with where to hit and where to protect yourself for a few rounds to get used to being in a new tank or fighting certain kinds of other tanks but if you have to play the game all the time like that, then it's kind of fucked up
It works for me and I'm using firefox they do take a bit to load up though.firebolt5 wrote:

Haven't used skins like that, does seem a bit cheap tbh. I know where to hit most tanks though just through practice.
I did until the 7.0 update introduced camoflouge, heard it is more complex to add custom skins into the game with the new patch.

Shit, t30 is gonna become a TD next patch, I better start grinding with my t34. I was hoping they would just release the m103 and eventually replace the t30 later.
Edit: Fuck, won't be able to do it, not enough xp to get in time. Goddammit.

I don't know how much XP it takes but I wouldn't give up so easily, they haven't even released the test patch yet
By the way, here's the details on 7.2 for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, released just yesterday:

Plus the T34 grind is possibly the worst in the game. For its tier, the 105mm is garbage and you'll have to grind a ton of XP just to get the 120mm, and even then the tank is still a piece of shit. I got my T34 a while ago and played like 6 matches until I said, "fuck it, I'll wait until it goes premium."
