in short, there are two games on current generation consoles I have liked, Burnout Paradise and Rock Band.Finray wrote:

Also, PC game companies do gives a rats ass what people's computers are. Why do you think so many of them want you to send in PC configuration surveys? Why, so they know what tech level generally aim for. If they make a game 'nobody' can play (Crysis), it won't do nearly so well as one just about everyone can play (i.e., WoW, Half-Life 2).
Probably an upper limit of $120 for collectors and $80 for regular boxes. I remember Street Fighter II for the SNES was $79 on release. In comparison, MW2 was a good deal (if you discount the fact that MW1 is better and cheaper).SEREMAKER wrote:
take for example MW2 ........ if no one had pre-order this game or no one bought this game the 1st week of release it would have sent a huge ripple effect to every marketing company ie EA ....... that ppl are tired of paying high dollar for games
what will be the breaking point $ for ppl on buying games ?

That still doesn't take away from the fact that it took/takes an expensive PC to play Crysis and that consoles have a far longer lifespan for new titles than PC's. It's simply a more cost-effective gaming solution, even if not my preferred one.DrunkFace wrote:

I built my computer 2 years ago for just under $1000 and it still easily maxes out pretty much anything but GTA4 at 1920x1080. I don't expect to have to upgrade it until long after the next generation of consoles comes out, although I probably will upgrade before then because I enjoy it.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

It's not difficult to make a computer that will outlast consoles, it seems that the main complaint is that PCs can be upgraded, and as such everyone seems to think they have to.
As I said one page back, you only need an expensive PC to play Crysis maxed out. To play it on settings equivalent to what consoles will be playing it at when crysis 2 comes out, you dont need a particularly beefy computer.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

Computers have the same longevity, but only if youre willing to have the same mediocre graphics as consoles get as they age. To play the latest and greatest at the maximum settings of course youll have to upgrade
But even then there is a time, at which your PC can play games in better optics than same-gen consoles and only after, say half-a-year, a year or so you´ll have to bog down to mediocre graphics.Wallpaper wrote:

Or you could just never settle for mediocre because being better than consoles is cool.

And you can do many, many more things, but that's no the thread's subject right?
Here, PC Games are at 60€=$87 and console games can rise up to 70€=$101, be happy that your games are only $60.

We spend more on computers, but its justified because they perform better.
Consoles perform more efficiently for the price you pay. Can you show me a £250 PC that can play GTA4 in 1080p (bearing in mind that about £70 of that will be OS cost, the consoles come with an OS that allows you to play the games already)?
You pay for OS?Bertster7 wrote:

Edit: Or did I, just noticed you said £... £250 = US$408
Fuck, still got $125 spare to buy a stupid operating system and GTA4.
But then so would an Xbox with a HD.
And I got a free game, a DVD burner and a much bigger HD.

Personally i never had a problem with the prices of games, games normally here (Netherlands) cost around the 50-60 euros, but i just buy my games from sites like game.co.uk or as somebody else said play.com ftw. Just bought battlefield bad company 2 limited edition for £25,- and mass effect 2 collectors edition for £40,- from game.co.uk.
We decide the prices not them, if you keep buying the 60-80 euros games (example; some games on steam have some ridiculous high prices) of course they will not lower the prices.

Holy shit, I think I'll do that too, 3-5 days shipping that only costs 2.5 quidgameaddict wrote:

Well, I'll have to pay VAT, but it will probably still be cheaper than buying it here.
edit: Wait, so the only thing limited edition has is you get the unlocks before the others? There's nothing the LE has that the normal version does not? Then what's the point? You're gonna get the first 6 unlocks, like the first day of gaming.

Yeah, but the limited edition doesn't cost more then the normal edition, so it's more the point of 'why not'.Sydney wrote:

Good point.
Does game.co.uk give early access to PC beta if I pre-order?

There won't be a PC beta, so far i know the beta is PS3 exclusive.Sydney wrote:

PC beta has been announced, will start late january, but if you preorder from some "participating retailers" you get in the beta 1 week earlier than the rest.gameaddict wrote:

Ah ok, didn't know that, but seeing the game itself is out in a month or so, i can wait (deff while playing mass effect 2 ).Sydney wrote:

Yeah, just checked, but 1: it's 10 euros more and just for the normal edition and 2: you get the beta code 2 days earlier then the normal participants, not really worth it for me seeing it's only 2 days.Sisco10 wrote:

No, you get it 2 days prior to the Beta. It´s still a closed beta, so it doesn´t matter if you get in in 2 days from now on or 2 days before it startsgameaddict wrote:

Anyways, game.co.uk makes me pay shipping, which adds 3,5€ to the price, so its less than 7€ cheaper and there is no info on Beta access.
