I am trying to get a very simple point across, but you just seem to be ignoring it.
Maybe you fling the work 'art' around too much. When i look/listen to something that tries to be art, i will do so critically. Not every exposition that you go to contains good art, or just art for that matter.
Just because people like something, doesn't make it good. it only makes it good according to them. Of course there is the issue of: Then who determines what is good or not? Nobody. There are a certain set of standards (and yes, these may vary to some degree for each and everyone of us) that they will have to live up to in order to be good, art or both.

If you say (hypothetically) that Skrillex (just to keep this thread from derailing too much) makes better music than Beethoven, then you are just plain wrong. Even if Skrillex would have more listeners that would agree with you on that, that doesnt change the fact that Beethoven makes better music than Skrillex.

I know that a lot of music i listen to is shit, but i personally still like listening to it. I also know that i personally have certain preferences when it comes to paintings, or any other art form for that matter and yet i still know that a painting that i personally don't like might be better than one that i personally do like.

And now i am tired of typing the word personally because apparently youre mixing up what i (or others) think is good and what is actually good

I don't think I'm missing your point at all. You are talking about the Good- the concrete good- not the abstraction of 'good'. Plato struggled with the idea of forms, too. The thing is, to most all scholars, the Good (not merely 'good') is non-existent. Existentialism and perspectivism now reign. You're stuck on the ancient idea of perfectibility.

I know that there is no such thing as perfection in art, or at least, not one that everyone would agree on. But i am simply trying to say that to deny that there not one piece of art is better than the other is very naive.

In the first sentence you agree that there is no Good (concrete), and thus no notion of forms or hierarchy, yet in the second sentence you return to your original position and state that there are, in fact, better and worse pieces of art. The 'good' pieces being closer to the Good, and the 'bad' being farther from it.

Which is it?

I said that there was no such thing as perfection (there never really is), but that there is such a thing as good or bad.
Now you are just looking for meaningless information in my posts (which, i assumed, where pretty easy to get) just to disagree with me.

I get your point as far as subjectivity goes and i agree with you on that. But there are just tons of examples in which a certain piece of art has shows itself to be better than another one within that form or category, especially in music.

I am done derailing this thread with this pointless argument.

OT:

Love the album.

Probably post a track, say that its the next big thing (he would say: HUGE) and then blow up his ego some more by ripping on what other people posted on here.

I meant in general if he would make a post here again, but yeah in response my post that seems accurate.
Although a little too nice, add some spice to it.

Take a look at Hospital Records, they have some decent artists signed to their label, London Elek, High Contrast, Netsky etc

Similar sort of stuff to that, liquid, jungle and stuff.

Heard it on their essential mix ages ago, think they only made it as a joke but it proved to be quite popular.

It's alright
