Does anyone have any ideas why my Geforce 6200 agp 512mb kepps on crashing to deskop with 4bit graphics when playing BF2?

Dont think it can handle it...tbh im impressed my 6600gt can handle it...im saving for a 7800 gtx
Um... even a 5900ZT can handle it without problems
pointless to put 512mb on a 6200, whateva company did that are dumbasses, and besides 5900 ZT > 6200

get a new 7900 / 7800GS or w/e it is.
yeh it can , on low/med settings at a lowish resolution. still not a good card, thats why i got a 6800, i think he should do the same if he has the moneyLt.Maverick|Lw| wrote:

video ram does not prove a lot... a 512mb 6200 under performs a 128mb 6600SAS-Lynx wrote:

didnt say it did, nor did i compair it to any other card , just said it could handle BF2 on low/med settings alryt
Well I've even tried it on Low settings & it still does it, running AMD 3200 with 1 gb memory, had better results with my old 5200 128mb, I got this card (6200) cause Im on a budget cant afford mega bucks cards.
the 6200 can definitely handle bf2. I was playing with a 6200 turbocache for a while, with all settings on low and 800x600 resolution. I got a fair amount of screen tearing but it was playable.
Well in that case then I'm off out to rob a bank now so i can get me a 7800 jobbie then!!! lol
Make sure you have the most recent video drivers.
hold on a minute, theres no such thing as a 6200 agp card with 512mb of ram. i think there is only one agp card with that amount of ram and its a 6800 ultra and its incredibly rare.
So i dont know what card your on about.

No, there are some dumbass companies that do put more video memory on it, even though its uneededmjw wrote:

Just to be sure, does the Geforce 6600 series work?
Or is it just the GT that does? Meaning the LE doesnt.

This is still about my bud who bought that laptop that cannot run BF2. He now wants to upgrade his ancient desktop to the bare minimum required to play the game. Just doin some research for him.
Is there a big difference between the LE and the GT? I think its only about a $40Cdn difference in price, but after you buy a new laptop, funds are scarce.
I have the normal 6600 and it runs bf2 nicely (i.e some medium some low). He should go for that if on a budget.

Really? Neither the GT nor the LE?wayneakagod wrote:

Thanks for the tip wayneakagod.
He's gonna be happy when he hears about this, since he asked EA and they told him that he'd be lucky if he could get the GT to run.
BTW, is your 6600 a 256? Because looking at the place where he plans to upgrade, the GT is a 128 while the regular one and the LE is a 256.

Yeah it totally works. I was running bf2 with the GF fx5200 before that upgrade ffs!
Edit - Mine's a 128mb card.

Unless your friend is going to be replacing the videocard soon he should totally go for the GT, it is worth the small extra price.
Don't worry about the 128 vs 256. In most of the benchmarks ive seen, extra video ram doesnt make much difference wheras GT vs normal is more significant

Thanks for the tips.
I'll relay the info to him and let him decide.
It's nice to have a forum where you can actually find people who knows their stuff

Show him this if he's wondering whether to spend the extra few bucks.
