say you don't want to be a huge beefy bodybuilder, you just want some muscle with nice tone so you remain agile for a sport, what exercises would be best?

i've got enough cardio in my life so anything but running haha

Weights: pick an exercise for each muscle you wanna work on. Use less weight and more reps if you want to stay toned. More weight/less reps if you wanna build more muscle.

Arms - tricep extensions, curls, shoulder shrugs
Chest - bench press, fly, pushups
Lats - pullups
Abs - crunches
Legs - squats, leg extensions (if you have the machine to do it), calf raises

Check out this guy's youtube page. He's got lots of videos showing you how to do arm/leg/chest/ab, etc workouts

which technique do you generally emply for your deadlifts? i've been doing some straight leg deadlifts which i'm really enjoying. I'm going to start my mate on the traditional deadlift squat tho, i'll save his hamstrings for another week... muhahahaha

Anyway, I think my form for deadlifts and squats is okay now. I can maintain a straight back during the whole set. Maybe I'll post a vid later on for you guys to criticize on my form

i need to sort my fitness out, after the last half a year i think ive lost year's worth of physical activity/fitness.

i was always a cardio man, but the weight-loss from drugs was pretty dramatic. im already a slim-build guy, but my metabolism has been 'just right' for years to just keep me stable and at a good weight/body mass, along with high cardio fitness. now i can't run or cycle for shit and i think all the amphets and cocaine / heart-fuckup caused my body to start converting what little fat/muscle mass i did have in order to stay alive and protect my vitals.

think this summer im going to get back in to some serious workout.

well the way i see it, after seriously disrespecting my body, i need some self-love that comes in a non-chemical, non-escapist way

mainly gonna work on 20-30 mins cardio a day, because my heart and is #1 concern, not muscle-mass.

i think the exercise in general will help deal with the mental fuckup that getting off drugs gives you as well. natural, normal, chemical feel-good.

IMO, you shouldn't be saying I'll start out this summer.. or anything like that.

Start right now, because you'll keep delaying. Don't tell me you don't have 30 free mins a week to spend running?

If you don't, do Tabata (HIIT), I do it atleast once a week and it fucks me up (in a good way) really bad.

IMO, i should listen to the doc and not do any serious exercise for at least another month

i need to regain lots of weight and, most importantly, rest. im fattening up like a goose and trying to get my body and chemicals back in balance.

im not going for the 'gain bulk -> cut the fat to muscle' technique. i just need to get out of drug-fucked territory before i can consider normal routines.

tabata workouts would fucking kill me, literally. i'd drop dead.

Oh, didn't know about your doctor's description. That's too bad.

I don't bulk and cut either, well, not drastically at least. I try to gain muscle while keeping my BF% somewhat in order.
