Bloody hell that is staggering. 329 not out. Ive only watched little bits of his innings, very small bits but fuck me he made it look piss easy out there. I wish he'd got to 381 though and knocked big nose off the top.

To be honest if I had been in Clarke's position on this day I would have found it very tempting just to keep batting, push for 400. Break almost every record in the book by that point. One test in hand so it's a relatively safe move, plus 12 months from now no one is really going to care about the outcome from the test, but 50 years from now people will still make mention of such a knock.

Nah there were no drops in the slips. Sharp c+b chance when he was on 182 but that was it.

I'd have liked to see him push on too but tbf he did look pretty knackered at the end and 329 is plenty of highlights to be going on.

haha my actual birthday is next week as well

but seriously. it was lara-esque in the way that he just made batting look so ridiculously easy. "i want to hit a four" - walks across and flicks in the air over midwicket. just awesome. it's not the first time he's batted like this year (it's the fourth - absurd run a ball 60 on a square turning dustbowl in galle, where he was lofting over midwicket against the turn, similar knock two tests later but a hundred on a much easier deck, that 151 in cape town which is the best i've seen in aages, and now this) but it's the longest i've seen him do it.
