Ok so I'm a white american living by New York City, and I always here the N word coming out of black peoples mouths.

Now I know that it's a insult if a white person would say that to a black person, but why do black people use it?

You never hear two white people shouting out cracker to each other in a friendly way, or asia's yelling chink out, so y is it socially acceptable in the black community?

It's a negative word, y would you adopt it into your slang as a "careing word", in my eyes it would be like calling your mother a Cunt or something along those words.

Well just wondering what other peoples views are?

im black and i don't use it at all, there are lots of blacks that don't but the few blacks that do are the only people that you notice. I say wtf did you just call me? when ANY ONE calls me the N word and dont think diffrent.

BTW my white friends call each other cracker all the time.

My bad mixed it up, Really I never hear white people calling each other that. I'm just wondering about it, cause it seems to be one of the more popular word of comedians and rappers, which is why I probably notice that more oftend.

I do have black friends as well as white but I don't really hang out with anyone but my girl.

most blacks hate being called the N word, but the ignorant ones who don't know were the word really comes from don't mind. But i know what the N word means and were it comes from; one time i got in a fight with a white guy because he call me the N word and i said what the hell did you call me and all that. but he through the first punch so i did not start it.

You just don't notice the blacks with common sense because they are not the one who stand out from the crowd.

It totally depends on the context and where it's used. I think joking around friends is fine, although I stop using the N when there's no black dudes around. Just doesn't feel right.
It becomes a problem when you use it in public, although we are getting desensitized to those words, you still gotta respect what others might feel.

I was thinking about setting up a poll to ask if my name was appropriate or not.. no one I know has ever had a problem with it, but as BF2S grows more and more I increasingly feel the need to change my name.

Edit: By the way, I'm half Japanese. (but not to say that it's half justified)

I dont know from what i've seen normal black people (the ones that speak proper english and you can understand) dont use it.

All the younger kids say it alot thinking its cool or something but it just shows there mentality and is annoying i dont see anything wrong with black people calling black people nigger's.

Also theres some black people that you can joke around with, My friend in highschool was half white and half black i made jokes all the time one time i called him an Oreo and he laughed.

Another time at school this short Persian guy says to this black guy whats up my nigger and he just smiled so yep dont understand some people lol.

Some of it is out of good fun. Lol i mean i have friends that call me a Nazi becuase i have blonde hair blue eyes and mostly German blood. I think its funny knowing that im not but if a stranger randomly said that to my face i would damn sure take offense. I guess it really depends on the situation and who the people are.

I understand that there are certain situations that you can use words like that, and usually when you get called a Nazi it's in a joking manner.
But black people, from what I can see and I'm generalizing because I can only speak from my experances, can walk up to other black people and say what's up my nigga and get away with it. Where if I where to walk up to tucker and said "what up my NAZI" even though I'm blonde with blue eyes, I probably wouldn't get away with it.

Because when you customize the leaderboard it saves that info locally in cookies. When you view the website on another computer, it defaults back to tF.

It's not a common greeting. Not all Blacks say that chit, quit making generalizations. Go to one of the NJ ghettos and ask there. I am sure someone will take care of you there.

That is basically where I'm getting the generalization, I'm not saying ALL Blacks I am generalizing cause you might not relize it but the T.V. and many high profile blacks such as rappers use the word alot, and often explain why it's alright. Now I'm not condoning the use of it at all I was raised that it was a degrading word
Myself coming from a generally white neighbor hood have starting hearing younger white people starting to use it as a greeting as well. It's becoming common place in our culture and I for one am trying to figure out why people try to justify using it.

Hope this clerify's that I'm not trying to come off as raciest, lord I'm my girlfriend's first white guy.
