Winston, do you know if there is a way to prevent musicbee from importing all of my created playlist each time it syncs my folders? I'd rather import those manually or just recreate them in mbee. I've got it to sync with my Droid x the right way now (it was syncing ringtones and other sound files on my phone also .

found it.. it's right there when you add the folders .. d'oh

I also noticed you can add a "love" column. Love it in musicbee and it forwards to last.fm.

yeah i added that a few days ago, nifty. have you ever used ratings? ive never rated a song in my life, i cant imagine it being useful.

only annoyance is i have to revert my ipod to 3.1.1 from 3.1.3 to sync properly with musicbee, hopefully it works

tried the auto dj feature kmar? its cool, enable the feature for last.fm to select artists and songs for you. then just choose an initial song you like and itll build a playlist off of that, including songs from last.fm radio so you can discover new artists effortlessly

and can you change my wmp logo on the page to

I've used ratings, but not consistently. It's just another way to sort the library imo. I think it's more useful for sharing with friends. In other words it would be nice to have a rating system at a social site like last.fm. .. beyond just "loving" a track. Sort of a ranking system.

I've seen the autodj feature in the app but I have yet to try it.

I think I am going to make a playlist thread. One where you can create and recommend a playlist. I know we have a recommend music thread, but there is absolutely no organization with it.

Also, some of you may not know that you can make a playlist at last.fm. And if you want you can import that playlist at http://groovylists.com/ and it will play the playlist for you via grooveshark (every song). It's worked ok, although it did miss a couple songs when doing it through last.fm. Exporting through itunes works perfectly. You can upload any xml playlist there and it will work.

Autodj has been hit and miss. I prolly need to tweak it. I also noticed that you can create a playlist with all of your loved songs or the playlist you have saved at last.fm.. which is kinda neat.

yeah i spent about 20 minutes adding rules for it to follow before i liked it. and it depends entirely on the original song you have playing when you start it. the loved song feature has been cool too, ive tried that before.

I think I'm just going to start making my playlist at last.fm and then importing them to musicbee or GrooveS. That actually keeps me more mobile because i can save those playlist to grooveshark, and if for some reason I don't have my player on me I can simply stream it .. either-or, works out nicely.

You're right. That is an issue. afaik there is no way to import existing playlist into last.fm right now.

Actually, what about a thread where we have one person make a playlist and have members vote/rate it over the course of a week? .. ongoing thing.

I've never used the playlist feature ... don't even know what it does.

So if you make a playlist you can then stream all the tracks on that playlist? Seems contradictory to last.fm's usual stance on streaming music.

Nah.. if we were to do what I proposed then I would say do it at grooveshark. . which does offer free streaming. I'm using the trial android app of grooveshark which works nicely. Pretty much stream whatever you want to your device. I still like the social aspect and discovering new music at last.fm though.

I just think the recommend music thread is poorly organized. It is almost the same thing as "what are you listening to now" imo.
I'd like to see a maintained op with recommendations catagorized by genre, artist, and member. The rating idea would just be sort of a spotlight.

Years ago I had a playlist set up so I could listen to stuff at work or at a friend's place or anywhere not on my own computer. But there are so many other, better tools for that these days. Dropbox, that one Sonic-something, I forget what it's called.

Setting up the playlist is a pain too. I would go through and delete the ones that they could only play 30-sec samples of.

yeah that 30 second samples thing is retarded. I think that's why I initially stopped using last.fm, before I found out about the whole scrobbling thing.

Is grooveshark the only program that lets you import your own playlists to last.fm? I'd kind of like that feature, if only to share various playlists with friends.

It integrates into the last.fm website. It replaces the little black/white play icon next to tracks with a new blue one. The new blue one lets you play full songs. The songs stream from Grooveshark or something similar. If you visit an album page and click play on the first track, the addon queues all the songs in that album for playback. It works for any page with a list of songs. i.e. charts/playlists/loved tracks/etc
