my idle temps used to be around 40-42 now its like 50-60. I recently moved the fun in the front so it could suck out the hot air, it used to suck cold air from the outside and blow it towards the HSF on the VGA. Do you think thats why its hot now. also the area around the card is now 49 compared to original 39.
id have fans blowing in down low and sucking out up high.

Switching the front fan to suck the hot air out of the computer instead of blowing cold air into the case is basically a bad idea. First of all: some of the hot air is vented outside by the power supply unit. If you want to have additional ventilation, I would recommend putting a second case fan in. In the back of each case just above the slots there is another spot to out a fan in which should vent the hot air out.
Ok.. take your case turn it on with all the fans running with your side panels on.. now juding from the sound you prob have a case with a side window.... if you do have the fan suck smoke inside your pc. if it clears all the smoke out as just strate threw your case is good. but if the smoke stays inside your case you need to re do your fansetup.

Overclockin yea, 450 to 550. and there 80mm leds
yeah when you over clock your going to get hotter temps. more power = more heat.. just dont let it go over 40.c
if it gets to 50.c lower the clock or get a box fan and slap it on the side of your pc. like so.

get bigger fans + heatsink. if you keep letting it heat up its going to destory your card faster.also what card are you running.

lower the clock untill you get better cooling also use that smoke thing to make sure the fans are pulling in - out air right./
im not sure about ati cards, but 50c seems to be fine for nvidia cards, im assuming it should be around 50 for all cards

Nope... fans work 2... i have my 9800 keepin up with the big boys... (my cpu helps A LOT) but none the less. its what 4 years old now and still can play any game that i have wanted to play so why buy a new card? untill i get a game where i cant play im not going to even look at a new video card...iLLmatic wrote:

but anyways with the right fans - airflow - heatsinks you can have just about the same as warter.
intodays market.. all you need is a effective 120mm blowing in the front... maybe 1/2 80mm intakes at the side, and a 120mm exit fan - as long as ur heatsink lets heat out in the same direction as the exit fan you should be fine.
and manage your cables... they can get inthe way and block effective air flow.
