Since I was 11 I've been doing it on and off.
So 9 years.

Just a hobby for now, although I might attempt to make some money off it in the future.

you're on your way. build a portfolio, print some generic (just an e-mail addy) biz cards, make your pics accessible.
you have an eye for photography, keep at it even if you have another career.

a friend at work was approached as he took pics at the track (Miller MotorSports, 2009 World Superbike) by the sponsor of one of the riders.
was offered a fair price for action shots, sight unseen. he had to write his e-mail addy on a napkin, so . . .
