Actually I'm also Australian now
Not sure if that means more people hate me or fewer.

Baseball sucks though.

Really I've never 'got' spectator sports.

They do play baseball here too you know?
Doesn't make it any less shit.
Ohh btw...
The Guiness Book of Records states that the baseball game with the largest ever crowd actually took place in Australia.

Which game was that? I wonder how it compares to total amount of people watching the world series.

it's not exactly hard to get a big crowd here.

- host at mcg
- make sure it's in between september and december
- ensure beer is on offer
- advertise

and you'll get 60000 easy, probably more.

114000 is quite a few. but again: at mcg in spring with beer on offer.

shame they didn't let sheffield shield players play. that would've livened it up somewhat.

Record crowds turn out for 1936 Olympics. Against the backdrop of Hitler's Germany, the largest crowd (estimated at 125,000) ever to see a baseball game watched two U.S. teams play an exhibition game at Olympic Stadium in Berlin.

Spark it's a shame the MLB doesn't let their players play outside too.

yeah... but i would think that the transition from baseball to cricket is a lot harder than the other way round. still, a shame. although i don't think many would do it now, it's not like there is a shortage of easy ways to lotsa cash in either sport

It doesn't matter now I guess. Baseball and softball have been eliminated from the Olympics I think. There may be a slim chance they are reinstated though.

really? that's lame. we need a team bat sport in there.

there is a push to get t20 cricket in there (which i think could work, the game format sold correctly would definitely appeal), but that won't happen for a while (the indians and WADA aren't exactly the best of friends).

no but baseball is good. simple, fun game. i still think cricket is better but it's a shame it's been eliminated from the olympics. that'll just reinforce the notion that it is a purely american game.

I tried watching some baseball but i'm not well educated on the rules and the process of gameplay, thus, i disliked the experience.

Great game by Chase.  Next game: Pettite vs. Pedro...just like old times.  It's going to be a good one.

I was actually telling most people today I didn't think the Yankees were gonna win game 5. Why would you want to? It's in enemy territory... much better to win it at home with Pettite.
