If you want to be a great sniper, you are better off with soldier than the infintrator tbh..

slowing time for epic headshots = win

Low ammo count is the only thing keeping the Infiltrator from being THE op class.

I hate worrying about ammo.  Better immersion that way so I can focus on my biotics.

Mass Effect 2 wins GT's GOTY

Can't say I disagree... while RDR comes in a close second, ME2 was just too good.

tbh the only thing that would suprise me was if ME2 >DIDN'T< win GOTY

Maybe I need to "try" RDR

immersion is what matters most for me... RDR certainly had it (and those incredibly placed music tracks throughout certainly helped that) but ME2 was just incredible

Floppy can you please stop saying things like "try" and "acquire" when talking about pretty much every pc game on the planet (which RDR isn't btw). Nobody cares if you pirated them, just say you played it.

It annoys me a surprising amount

Bump

I decided to buy ME2 a few weeks ago, since it only recently came out on PS3. I had heard that it was a good game, but I never really paid much attention to it for some reason. I started playing without even looking up on the first game, so I didn't have much of an idea of what was going on. The only thing I knew was that the only Garrus and Tali are the only team members with you who were part of your original team from the first game, so I made a mental note to keep them alive for ME3.

Anyway, it's fucking brilliant. It's probably been the best purchase I've made in the last six months at least. RPG wise, it could be slightly better, but it's still a great sci-fi game, the story and the galaxy itself was brilliant. I really like the alien species and how they are unique in some way or another. The Quarians reminded me a lot of the humans from Battlestar Galatica, if fact, they were probably inspired by the series since their situations are basically the same. One of the things that constantly annoyed me was the side missions. There was barely any dialogue from either Shepard or the team. Most were just re-used lines in combat. For example, there was a cutscene of Shepard blowing up a mercenary base, but when he goes to destroy it, Shepard stays silent the whole time. It just felt awkward and out of place. I don't think I even need spoiler tags now, but oh well;

Spoiler (highlight to read):
I failed Zaeed's and Samara's loyality missions because, well, I fucked them up when it came to the choices I made. I also lost Legion's and Miranda's loyalty because I didn't have a high enough Paragon score to settle their disputes. Legion is still awesome though. Somehow, I still only lost one team member on the Suicide Mission (Miranda). I still don't understand, I was expecting to lose more, since a third of my team wasn't even loyal. Can't complain though, I didn't like Miranda that much anyway. Jack was a complete bitch, thus, I romanced Tali. I was also expecting the suicide mission to be harder, but then again, I wasn't playing on Insanity

Question: Are their variables related to your character which affect the rate at which you gain your Paragon/Renegade points? I could only get just over half of the paragon bar when I was going for a full paragon character, obviously, this affected the loyalty of my teammates.

I am now looking really forward to ME3, but I have to say, considering how DA2 turned out to be, I am feeling a bit worried at what it will turn out like

DA and ME are made in different Bioware studios so they might as well be by different developers. Thats my way of clinging to hope anyway.

Yes, your character special skill (second from the botton, depends on what class you play) has a Paragon/Renegade modifier. Apart from that it there is none though.

And how did you manage to get Miranda killed? lol. Shit really has to hit the fan to get lose her, haha

I suppose that offers some sort of comfort. But still, it's still EA that's publishing it, so I'm not exactly trusting them. Hopefully EA will realise that this series just can't afford a rushed and low quality final game. I suppose that's why Valve is taking their time with EP3, and I respect that. I'd much rather wait longer for a brilliant game rather than recieve a low-quality one in a fraction of the time.

I started the game as the default Shepard with Soldier and Earth Born, both of which were default because I was lacking in imagination at the time
I'll do some research before starting a second playthrough, thanks

I actually don't know how just Miranda died. I think it was due to her loyality, but it doesn't explain how the rest of the non-loyal ones survived. The logical thing to do was leave the more combat orientated team members to hold the line (Grunt, Zaeed etc), I got Morodin to escort the crew back and Miranda led the second fire team. I took Garrus and Tali along for the final battle since I wanted them to survive. Still, the fact that just Miranda died still eludes me

Well, there was a thread on the Bioware forums that stated what combination of loyalty/mission assignments/choices you had to do for the various outcomes, can´t find it right now.
First time playing, I sent Mordin back with the survivors and he died on the way.lol

The character special skill always comes with the paragon/renegade modifier, regardless of chosen class and origin. Just the skill itself differs, to make things clear. And upon reaching level 4, only one of the two specialisation choices gives you 100% boost, the other one only gives 75%.
