And now Valve, who we all thought would stand above all this.Miggle wrote:

yeah I actually agree with all that. More than ever the 360 is encroaching on PC games, and its causing a massive drop in the number of decent PC games to play. Battlefield is a good example of this .
Edit:
Gabe says:
So.. Valve as always want stuff to be free. Or at least Gabe does. Notice its always Doug Lombardi who's saying these controversial things and then whenever Gabe makes a statement he wants things to be as they always have been? I'm beginning to think Doug has conflicting interests.Gabe Newell wrote:
I'm not sure how much detail you want on this, but here goes. On the PC, there isn't an approval process or anyone who controls the platform. On the PC we can ship DLC for free. On the consoles, the console manufacturer gets to tell you what the rules are. We want to ship Left 4 Dead updates for free, of course, for the reasons we've always done it that way. On the 360, for example, you can do as many free code updates as you want, as long as they live within an 8 MB update (which is basically nothing). By MS rules, you can do one free content update for each two paying updates. We really encourage Microsoft to remove this constraint and have offered to handle the bandwidth costs ourselves. This is something we are gong to keep coming back to as it affects all of our products on the 360 or any other current or future consoles.
I am somewhat optimistic that this is going to get fixed over time.
We have no intention of letting Left 4 Dead die.
